Background information:

The Governance Risk and Compliance office increases organizational efficiencies and optimizes operations whilst reducing exposure to risk and aids management decision making. The Assurance and Control Associate acts as a conduit between business users and solution architects by gathering, documenting, and communicating knowledge effectively.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Governance, Risk and Compliance Officer, within the GRC and QA Unit (MSG), in the Management and Strategy Division (MS). The resource will support Quality assurance, Compliance, and Risk management duties, such as

  • Support assurance programmes of UNICC:
    • Conduct technical and non-technical audits and control assessments
    • Perform cyclic risk management activities
    • Monitor compliance with approved business processes and control frameworks
    • Perform monitoring and proposing appropriate measures to correct and improve the control environment to improve quality and compliance programmes across all UNICC offices
  • Business process improvement advisory activities of UNICC and its clients:
    • Support the implementation and review for continuous improvement of sound business processes across all UNICC offices
    • Conduct reviews for compliance with approved business processes and control frameworks
    • Coordinate implementation of continuous improvements using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Implement automation of the risk management, compliance and quality assurance programmes
  • Support and perform Risk management and Assurance programme services for UNICC clients

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in the field of data analytics, risk management, reviewing internal controls and implementing process improvements using varying techniques
  • Ability to collate, process, and analyze data to extract valuable insights and support decision-making processes
  • Track record of performing internal or external audits (financial/operational/IT) in accordance with relevant professional standards and ability to convey them in a convincing, tactful manner
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate risks whilst recognising structural issues and functional interdependencies
  • Ability to convey information needs of the business to IT and technical constraints to the business: all whilst ensuring higher level organisational objectives and risk appetite is met
  • Ability to produce quality reporting and effectively summarise findings for implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and diverse environments

Desirable:

  • Proven experience in to collate, process, and analyze data to extract valuable insights and reporting
  • Proven experience in implementation or auditing of management systems
  • Proven experience of internal controls design and operating effectiveness reviews
  • Ability to capture, standardise and share knowledge to benefit organisation practice
  • Ability to navigate GRC tools to produce quality reporting
  • Understanding of business processes and industry internal control framework

Education:

Essential:

  • First university degree in computer science or Information technology or Data analytics or a related field
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or CISSP or a related field

Desirable:

  • IT Service Management, Project Management Certifications
  • Knowledge of working practices within international organisations
  • Working knowledge of risk management for IT and OT
  • Knowledge of relevant industry frameworks

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of another UN language is an asset

Other Information

Compensation:

Fee will be based either on the National Officer salary scales or the Individual Consultancy band levels (for Headquarters)
