Project Summery

CARE International Iraq is leading a consortium for a project that will respond to and prevent gender-based violence in Ninewa and Diyala as these Governorates are identified as those with the highest risks and major gaps in GBV prevention and response services. Specific to Diyala, the project will address the needs in the Baquba district, targeting Beni-Saad and Buhriz sub-districts and for Ninewae the project will address the needs in the Al-Hamra and Al-Baaj districts of the Ninewa governorate, targeting Markas Al-Hatra, Al-Qahtania, and Markaz Al-Baaj sub-districts.

Job Summary

As a member of the Gender and Protection team, Income Generation Assistants will support day-to-day implementation of the income generation activities under a GBV project being implemented in Ninawa and Diyala governorates. The incumbent must ensure community-involvement and assist with open dialogue/communications between CARE and targeted communities to provide consistent and high-quality service.

Position Location: The position is based in Hatraالحضر 

Reporting/Line Management – The Income Generation Officer.

Gross Salary: 1300-1414 USD

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Assist the Income Generation Officer and the partners’ GBV project teams in the registration of beneficiaries; verification of needs based on assessments at the Women Girls Safe Spaces, and/or provision of assistance in line with CARE policies and donor requirements.
  • Ensure that the income generation activities are implemented in line with the technical guidance provided by the Income Generation Officer as well as the international standards.
  • Communicate with beneficiaries on project objectives, targeting criteria and beneficiary entitlement
  • Identify certified training courses and respective trainers for the provision of vocational trainings in close coordination with the Income Generation Officer
  • In conjunction with the Income Generation Officer, assist with the coordination and organization of the VT trainings and income generating activities..
  • Communicate with beneficiaries on project objectives, targeting criteria and beneficiary entitlement
  • Organize, facilitate and supervise vocational training courses for beneficiaries, including pre- and post-tests, organizing graduation events and selection of applicants for micro-grants and apprentices as part of a selection committee
  • Build beneficiaries skills and knowledge on business plan development in coordination with vocational trainers
  • Understand and promote CARE’s approach of gender mainstreaming throughout all project activities
  • Verify and update the beneficiary registers in close cooperation with the MEAL team and report back to Income Generation Officer
  • Participate in the preparation of weekly and monthly plan and schedules to be submitted to the Income Generation Officer within given deadlines.
  • Actively promote community participation in project activities with attention to gender and disability representation in all activities.
  • Compile and manage data, perform data entry and data verification in relation to project administration and implementation processes (e.g. contact lists, beneficiary information, beneficiary documentation, indicator tracking sheets).
  • Establish strong working relationship with targeted communities, including local leaders and identification of local focal points
  • Provide specialized project administrative transactions and processes (e.g. translate, type, proofread, and/or format documents; record and transcribe meeting minutes; draft correspondence messages).
  • Prepare supporting documentation as required by CARE and donor regulations
  • Any other relevant task as requested by the line manager in scope of the project.

Education and Qualification

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum 1-year experience of working in livelihoods in local or international NGOs with focus on business training/coaching at grassroot level
  • Be resident of Ninawa or Diyala governorates respectively
  • Experience in GBV projects highly preferred
  • Experience in the facilitation and organization of Vocational Trainings, Business Grants and Apprenticeships.
  • Knowledge in computer skills, including MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Demonstrated results implementing and tracking field-based activities.
  • Experience conducting beneficiary identification, verification and registration.
  • Knowledge of local context.
  • Good command of Arabic and English both written and spoken;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within teams, with the highest standards of accountability;
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Good analytical and report writing skills including use of graphs
