JOB CONTEXT:

The Myanmar Thailand (MyTh) program involves all HI’s interventions’ contexts (Armed Violence Reduction, Emergency and Development) and was created in 2016 with the merge of 2 already existing missions, setting up cross border initiatives to integrate the return of refugees from Thailand to Myanmar as part of its regional strategy.

HI’s strategy is based on 3 operational priorities as follows:

  • Pillar 1 – Armed Violence Reduction: Mine risk Education and Land Release
  • Pillar 2 –Inclusion: Disability Social Inclusion; Support to Civil Society, inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction, Livelihoods
  • Pillar 3 – Health and Rehabilitation: Emergency Hospitals Preparedness; Mother and Child Health; Functional rehabilitation; Mental health and Psychosocial support.

To carry out this mission, HI Myanmar/Thailand is looking for an Inclusive Education Specialist for 24 months (5 months of posting in Mae Sot to start).

YOUR MISSION:

Under the direct management of the Technical Unit Manager, you will be in charge of technical support related to Inclusive Educational Services to IE project teams. More precisely, you will:

  • Develop project implementation strategies, operation plans and ensure quality assurance to meet the projects’ objectives within the project time frame through the technical perspectives
  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure strong coordination with project teams, donor and partners for smooth planning and implementation of project activities
  • Provide technical support and inputs, linked with requested help-desk services from donor and implementing partners
  • Build the capacity of the project team on the project components and organizational management
  • Maintain effective team cooperation via coordination meeting and regular meetings with the project team, so that there are efficient internal communications of information between team members, supervisors, consortium partners and implementing partners
  • Liaise with project related stakeholders to explore various possibilities for developing / bringing in policy level changes

As Inclusive Education Specialist, you will ensure technical quality of all Inclusive Education related activities:

  • Develop the strategy of the Education sector
  • Represent HI in any technical forum related to Education including the global community of practice
  • Ensure technical support and technical monitoring of activities
  • Develop appropriate technical tools and guidelines in line with the global documentations and in close coordination with the HQ Global Inclusive Education Specialist

YOUR PROFILE:

  • You hold a master’s degree in Education or related field
  • You have experience in project management in the field of education, experience in working with students with disabilities in a developing country, and working in partnership with local authorities and partners
  • You are comfortable with advocacy and networking
  • You have good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as good coordination skills
  • Fluency in English

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POSITION:

Due to the Military Coup on February 1st 2021 in Myanmar and the COVID situation in the region, the Program must adapt its set-up and expectations. Considering this fact, this position will be located in Mae Sot, but will be competent for Myanmar and Thailand. In Myanmar the security and administrative contexts are harder compare to Thailand.

  • 36 months International contract starting from 4th, November 2022, with 5 months posting in Mae Sot to start
  • The international contract provides social cover adapted to your situation:
    • Unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals
    • Pension scheme adapted to the situation of our employees: If you already have a personal pension scheme HI will contribute at the same level of your personal monthly contribution with a maximum of 272.53€/month ; If you do not have a personal pension scheme, we will open a private pension account with your contribution of 272.53€/month and a contribution of HI of the same amount
    • Medical coverage with 50% of employee contribution
    • Repatriation insurance paid by HI
  • Salary from 2757 € gross/month upon experience
  • Perdiem: 589.79 € net/month – paid in the field
  • Paid leaves: 25 days per year
  • R&R: 1 day per month
  • Position open to couples
    • Support travel costs (air ticket & visa) for accompanying dependent and health/ repatriation insurance if the dependent has no income/
    • Mission of more than 18 months: payment of one yearly additional return flight
  • Individual housing: taken in charge by HI
