The Hub on inclusion of persons with disabilities in MSF is a partnership between WACA and MSF-Norway. The goal is to design an overall MSF organisation inclusive of persons with disabilities in its projects or action (be careful to not exclude patients with disabilities by not being proactive enough on including them) and in its organisation (proactively recruiting and developing PWDs in the organization).

We Are Looking for:INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES (PWD) OFFICER-FLYING
Department: OPERATIONS

Direct Manager: WaCA Director of Operations

Functional Manager: International Coordinator Hub inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWD)

Working %: 100%

Position Based in: ABIDJAN And administered by WaCA office in Abidjan

Mobility: All WaCA’s Interventions Zones

Type of Contract: Fixed-Term Renewable

Position to be filled: As Soon As Possible

Objectives

Building particularly on the experience of the hub of inclusion of PWDs, the experience of the OCB associative projects on inclusion of PWDs in DRC and the experience of the WACA projects in DRC, the person will:

  • Contribute to achieving the inclusion of people with disabilities (PWD) within WaCA projects and organization.
  • Contribute, through the sharing of the WaCA experience, to achieving the inclusion of people with disabilities within all MSF projects and the MSF organization as a whole
  • Contribute to advocacy (testimony) for better inclusion of PWD in the countries of WaCA intervention

Main responsibilities / Activities

  • Raise awareness in the projects, presenting the tools today available, examples of projects and support the project in drafting a roadmap.
  • Support for implementation efforts on the various WaCA missions and ensure follow-up
  • Engage MSF WaCA associates in this logic and catalyse deeper reflections to determine the achievement of objectives
  • Support initiatives for the representation of disabled women and people with disabilities in the promotion of employment within MSF. Particularly collaborate with the WACA steering committee dedicated to the inclusion of women.
  • Meet with Ministries of Social Affairs / Ministries of Health, possible Ministries of Disability in the different countries to assess existing strategies
  • Contribute to an international meeting to have a more global reflection on inclusion (Meeting bringing together government officials, MSF representatives, MSF actors in the inclusion of PWDs; the person will contribute to experience sharing and to be a catalyst for change in the 5 WACA countries of operation
  • Contribute to sharing the WaCA experience within the movement

Job requirements

Education / Qualification / Pre-requisites

  • Medical education and experience of working with and for persons with disabilities
  • Knowledge of MSF and its operational and organizational modes of operation
  • High degree of disability awareness through personal experience.
  • High degree of awareness of discrimination based on disability and gender and other identity factors.
  • Strong empathy and spirit of inclusion
  • Desire to co-create projects in a community and patient-centered approach.

  • Negotiation skills
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Communication skills with effective stakeholder management & conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and to collaborate across departments and geographic locations

Professional experience required

  • Significant work experience within MSF (> 4 years) at operational and organizational level, or equivalent experience in a humanitarian or social environment in relation to the topic of the inclusion of people with disabilities.
  • Medical and work experience with people with disabilities (>2 years)

Languages Skills

  • · Fluency in French and ability to communicate acceptably in English. All other local and international languages ​​as well as sign languages ​​being added values.

Computer Skills

  • M365 applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • TEAMS working environment
  • ZOOM conference systems
  • Familiar with the use of social media
