Hybrid- Business Development Women’s Empowerment Specialist

Counterpart International (Counterpart) is seeking a Business Development Women’s Empowerment (WE) Specialist. The position will report to the Vice President of New Business Development and will be embedded in the Women’s Empowerment Practice Area.

The Specialist will provide technical leadership on proposals, facilitate the women’s empowerment pipeline and decisions around priority proposals, and produce and support the development of knowledge products that better position Counterpart in the market.

The position is ideal for candidates with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in international development. Preferred candidates will demonstrate strong business development acumen, entrepreneurial skills, and a technical understanding of key USAID women’s empowerment technical area. The candidate should have a keen interest in understanding different development approaches in various contexts and the ability to package and present the approaches and tools in proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Technical Lead in the development of proposals. This includes proposal writing, leading the project design (including the theory of change and logic model), conducting reconnaissance trips, and securing partners. Approximately 70% of time.
  • Facilitate the further integration of women’s empowerment approaches in Counterpart’s current portfolio of governance and resilient food systems (RFS) programs, including new business proposals WE’s pipeline meeting and carry-out early analysis and intelligence gathering to inform Counterpart’s proposal prioritization process. Approximately 20% of the level of effort.
  • Lead and/or support the production of knowledge products that document and enhance Counterpart’s approaches, tools, and evidence that respond to our funders’ priorities. Approximately 10% of the level of effort.

Qualifications

  • Advance degree in relevant field (or a bachelor’s with an additional 2 years of experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in international development, with successful proposal development experience (demonstrated wins), technical knowledge and expertise in women’s empowerment technical area, or other relevant area.
  • Demonstrated experience writing winning proposals.
  • Strong understanding of USAID.
  • Comfortable working and communicating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and under pressure against tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, self-motivated, detail-oriented, self-directed, and curious.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Language skills in French, Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Arabic.

Annual Salary Range: $92,706-$120,517
