The starting salary package range for this position is £59,824 GBP (approx. $71,926 USD) per annum including all relevant allowances

About MAG in West Africa:

MAG supports the development of countries emerging from conflict by finding and destroying the explosive remnants of war, so that communities can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. The main area of focus in MAG’s programmes across West Africa is Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM), working with national defence and security authorities towards the safe storage, management and destruction of weapons and munitions.

About the role:

This is an exciting time to join the MAG West Africa team. This post reports to the Regional Head of Programmes. You will be responsible for providing leadership in the development of Humanitarian Mine Action programming and advocacy messaging. The postholder is also expected to strategically advise on how MAG operates to ensure relevant access and positioning and lead on the definition and target of advocacy messages related to Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) in the Sahel and West Africa

About you:

You will have significant experience of senior management of Mine Action programmes and a proven expertise in the development of new business, including proposal development, networking and

contract negotiations. Experience of producing high quality donor reports and proposals, and of developing and supporting projects including implementation, management, monitoring and

evaluation and contract compliance are essential to succeed in this role.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally are required. You will possess strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities, sometimes with conflicting deadlines and to work calmly under pressure. A proven ability to motivate and develop a teamwork, to find creative solutions to challenges and a proactive and flexible approach to work are also essential. As you will be expected to produce reports and proposals, strong writing skills are necessary. In addition, the postholder should be able and willing to live and work in a potentially insecure and politically sensitive environment, requiring diplomacy, and to undertake frequent travel. Previous experience in the mine action sector is highly desirable.

MAG is looking for a candidate fluent in both French and English. Portuguese and/or Arabic would be an asset.
