Context

NRC’s External Relations Department is a global team responsible for engaging with private individuals and organisations to build awareness of NRC’s work and raise resources for the organisation.

The Public Engagement and Identity Section manages NRC’s digital channels to enable communicate our mission and impact globally. We have grown our digital audience and outreach considerably in the past few years, and social media is one of our key channels for building brand and engagement around NRC’s mission for people forced to flee, both in Norway and globally.

About the position

As social media adviser you are responsible for working towards NRC’s strategic goals through communication on our global and Norwegian social media platforms.

As one of two social media staff, you’ll work with writers, video editors, web editors, graphic designers, and photographers in Oslo and around the world to publish the best content possible for our target audiences.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and publishing engaging social media content in Norwegian and English
  • Answering questions and comments on our social media platforms
  • Analysing social media performance to make sure we improve over time
  • Creating and optimising digital ads that help us build brand awareness and recruit leads for newsletters and fundraising
  • Working with writers and video editors to create effective and engaging content for all audiences.
  • Giving feedback on social media content to colleagues around the world

What you will bring

  • Strong social media skills, and a minimum of three years of experience from social media communication
  • Ability to quickly master software relevant for social media publishing and analysis, and experience from using digital advertising tools like Meta and Google Ads Manager
  • Fluency in both Norwegian and English, with strong editorial skills
  • The ability to transform highly technical information into engaging and impactful social media posts
  • Strong team skills, and the ability to communicate with respect and impact, both with your colleagues and the public.
  • A demonstrated ability to organise tasks, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
