To reinforce our “Asia & Americas team”, we are looking for a Humanitarian Coordinator*.*

This position is only filled locally. With contractual conditions of the respective country. An expatriation is not intended.

These are your responsibilities

  • Provide strong technical support in the development of country offices humanitarian preparedness plans.
  • Monitor humanitarian crisis in specific countries in the region and provide ongoing analysis to Humanitarian Action Team to support crisis engagement decision making processes.
  • Ensure robust MEAL frameworks are built in every crisis and promote the use of Real Time Evaluations as a learning, quality assurance and capacity building exercise.
  • Carry out field visits to allocated emergency responses for monitoring, steering and coordination purposes as required.
  • Identify disaster prone countries in the region, analyse the landscape of potential donors / partners in those countries, in the context of Humanitarian Action (HA) and Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR).
  • Supporting the COs/ Desks in the development of concept notes and proposals for HA and DiDRR. (including all proposal components, e.g. log frames and budgets)
  • Supervision and examination of the project’s programmatic and financial progress / final reports.
  • Coach/support the COs/ Desks on disability inclusion in Humanitarian Action (HA) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

These are your qualifications

  • University degree in social sciences, development/humanitarian studies or related field.
  • Proven professional experience in emergency preparedness, response and humanitarian programme management in complex humanitarian settings through national partners.
  • Proven experience of working with variety of stakeholders including UN, INGOs, government and donor agencies, and inter-agency humanitarian coordination.
  • Excellent project proposal development skills for institutional donors.
  • Experience in strategic planning and management of large and compley humanitarian programmes and budgets.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic oversight, coaching and capacity building of program staff, and managing diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of practical application of the Sphere standards and their foundational documents.
  • Knowledge of the local humanitarian context and related emerging trends, including policy developments and national, regional and global levels.
  • Understanding of disability inclusion and related legal frameworks and standards, especially with regards to disability inclusive humanitarian action would be desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience with working and/or traveling in occasionally insecure areas and following strict safety & security protocols.
  • Self-starting individual who is capable of working with minimal supervision and with a clear vision of participatory approaches.
  • Identification with Christian values and the mandate of the CBM.
  • Professional proficiency in English. German, Arabic, Spanish or Hindi would be advantageous.
