The South Africa Country Team serves as strategic thought partner, providing human resources support to ensure that our staff remain our greatest asset. We support programme teams in building operational infrastructure and minimizing barriers and risks, empowering teams to urgently deliver on CHAI’s mission of saving lives. We are seeking a driven and capable Coordinator to join our team in supporting the Human Resources team by facilitating the employee work cycle of CHAI staff.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and screen potential candidates to assess their abilities, and recommend qualified candidates based on phone interview and pre-employment assessment
  • Contribute to outreach strategy and refining recruitment tools and processes, and maintaining a pipeline of qualified candidates
  • Coordinate job posting, facilitating the recruitment process for all job requisitions of staff and ensuring DEI consideration to all recruitment processes and appointments
  • Facilitate the employee work cycle – onboarding new hires, conducting onboarding meetings, induction, employee benefit administration, assist in termination process, including sending exit letters, exit surveys, and coordinating and entering of employee data in SA filing system
  • Communicate with benefits vendors and enter data into benefits systems for new hire enrollments, changes and terminations
  • Actively monitor all employee changes including contract end dates, contract renewals and employee work authorization status
  • Conduct monthly employee data audits, provide HR compliance updates and support internal and external audit needs for the operations team
  • Coordinate payroll procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures, and establishing appropriate checks and balances to ensure on-time payments
  • Review of monthly payroll reports and ensure sufficient checks and discrepancies are tracked and actioned
  • Support the Operations team in finance and admin related work and diary management for the Country Director
  • Coordinate the calendar of all HR activities for the year
  • Create and update all process documents to ensure efficiency and uniformity through the Country office
  • Other duties as assigned by management**Qualifications**

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 year’s relevant work experience; or equivalent total work experience

  • Demonstrated experience conducting a diverse range of interviews (Behavioral, technical, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently and with a high level of accuracy, initiative, organization and self-motivation

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment across several time zones

  • Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and oral communication

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency and timeliness

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; strong Excel skills preferred
