Within the Department of Human Resources Management, the Integrated Talent Management Unit (ITMU) which is responsible for managing initiatives which help IOM to identify, attract, train, develop, and retain skilled employees to meet the mandate of the Organization.

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Human Resources Officer / Head of Staff Development and Learning (SDL), and the direct supervision of the Senior HR Coordinator (Learning Solutions), the HR Associate (Learning Solutions) will be responsible and accountable for providing support to the SDL Team and other units for the development and design of learning content and solutions.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Develop engaging learning activities and compelling course content to fill the skills and the knowledge gap with the aim of enhancing knowledge retention and transfer.
  2. Develop the audio/video script of the learning course and instructional text of the learning course.
  3. In collaboration with the Project Managers/Training Owners, identify the staff training needs of the target audience.
  4. Define and set instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
  5. Design an evaluation framework that measures application and impact.
  6. Apply tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods.
  7. Collaborate closely with SDL Team to check whether the final designed projects are in line with requirements and expectation of Project Managers /Training Owners.
  8. Design case scenario activities that enhance the learning processes.
  9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

  • University degree in Education, Learning & Development, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • High School Degree/Certificate in the above fields with six years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of four years (six years for High School Degree/Certificate’s holder) of working experience in instructional design with instructional technology.

Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models;
  • Basic knowledge on Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Cornerstone OnDemand etc.);
  • Solid knowledge of course development software like iSpring and the Articulate suite, including to design learning experiences that comply with international accessibility standards;
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills; and,
  • Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard. Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts, with consideration of diversity and inclusion aspects.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
