Overview

The HR Specialist – Benefits is responsible for performing support duties in the Benefits specialty area of Human Resources.

Duties Will Vary Depending On Area, But Will Involve

  • contact with employees, managers, and outside individuals to provide standard policy/procedural information.
  • performing routine problem resolution or referral on matters pertaining to human resources.
  • Reviewing processes, and rout aing wide range of incoming human resources documentation.
  • Updating HRIS and other systems as required.

Type of Opportunity: Full Time

FTE: 1.00 (40 hours/week)

Exempt

Work Schedule: Weekday Schedule Monday-Friday

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s in Business Related Field preferred
  • Customer Service experience preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Experience with group health and welfare employee benefits and defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans preferred
  • Previous HR experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Exercises judgement and implements judgement decisions to resolve complex benefits administration issues
  • Formulates and makes recommendations to management for changes and/or improvement in benefit plans administration
  • Utilizes human resource information systems to process and document actions related to specialty.
  • Provides customer service to PHS employees, managers, and non-employees, in specialty area by phone, email, or in person.
  • Escalates problems within specialty team to ensure resolution.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by responding to questions, interpreting and administering policies and procedures and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Uses all available resources to respond to incoming requests in an effort to assist customers with a resolution to their problem/concern.
  • Assists in the development of documentation of process and procedures into functional process improvements to enhance overall level of service to our customers and partners
  • Administrator of the PHS Pension Plan. Works directly with vendor to resolve system and employee issues.
  • Works directly with H&W external vendors and agencies to resolve issues for active and terminated employees
  • Ensures compliance in H&W and Retirement
  • Consult with employees on H&W and Retirement needs.
  • Works directly with partners within the organization to resolve issues for employees
  • Supports internal HR with H&W and retirement related questions
  • Process H&W/Retirement actions for active and terminated employees
  • Supports project work throughout the year as needed.
  • Retaining employee records through the electronic filing system.
  • Administration of Shared Security. Approvals and denials of Hardships, and maintaining employee records.
  • Administrator of the Rewards and recognition program. Provide timely rewards to the managers of the organization for distribution to PHS employees.
