Role and responsibilities

The HR Coordinator acts as the HR business partner to regional senior management; its role is to coach and advise managers and employees of the respective region(s) on HR matters. The position holder is the focal point for the region(s) for HR related questions and manages / executes the day-to-day HR activities in collaboration with HR staff in the field and operations. The HR Coordinator reviews and implements policies and processes related to talent acquisition, performance management, career / talent development, payroll, compensation & benefits, and duty of care. The HR Coordinator supervises HR staff in the field, jointly with the respective country director.

As an HR Coordinator, you will be involved in diverse HR tasks and responsibilities, such as:

HR administration and operational excellence:

  • Ensures compliance with GC’ policies & procedures.
  • Implements terms of employment and related policies including leaves, holidays, allowances and benefits, and others.
  • Responsible for the design/modification and implementation of HR policies, processes, and procedures, in alignment with HR standards and framework, and local labour law.
  • Ensures enrolment for social contributions and insurance packages of all staff and supports related inquiries.
  • Ensure continuous improvement.
  • Support specific projects and collaborate across teams & departments.

Team supervision:

  • Supervises HR field officers; assigns objectives for the year and manages performance.
  • Advocates GC’s culture and values.

Learning & Development:

  • Support people development initiatives.
  • Provides training sessions and capacity building activities to HR staff & employees, and conducts induction presentations for new joiners in HR.

Duty of care:

  • Acts as the focal point for employees for the region(s), ensuring the health, and well-being of staff.

Recruitment:

  • Supports recruitment activities such as conducting interviews and reference checks, and preparing job offers.
  • Partners with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition to ensure we attract and hire the right profiles.

Talent management & development:

  • Leads and coordinates talent reviews and career discussions.

Payroll:

  • Supervises the process and ensures all employees receive a pay slip.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Supports review processes such as conducting benchmark analysis and reviewing the pay scales on a regular basis.

Reporting:

  • Prepares periodic related reports on activities and as requested by the line manager.
  • Ensures the employee master data file and ERP system are updated.

External activities:

  • Builds and maintains an HR network with local frame of reference organisations.
  • Liaises and collaborates with relevant local authorities, lawyers and/or stakeholders.

Competencies

Professional competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or any other related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in HR, as HR generalist or HR business partner, with focus on HR administration, compensation & benefits, and talent management. HR IT skills & experience with implementation of a new ERP system is a plus.
  • Experience in working in HR in the humanitarian sector / NGO environment.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills.
  • Strong in execution.
  • Fluency in English and French, written and spoken; other languages are a plus.
