War Child Holland (WCH) is an international non-governmental organization that works exclusively to improve the well-being and resilience of children and youth affected by violence and armed conflict. WCH and its partners support children affected by the conflict in Syria through an integrated mix of child protection, education and psychosocial support interventions, while working closely with their caregivers, families and wider communities for maximum and durable impact.

From its office in Nicosia, War Child coordinates child-centred assistance activities both in Cyprus and in the Middle East region. Our highly diverse team consists of around 25 dedicated people, the majority of whom are based in Cyprus, with a small number being hosted by other War Child offices in the region (e.g. Lebanon and Jordan).

We are seeking to strengthen our team and we are currently seeking an enthusiastic and passionate HR Coordinator (part time) to join our dynamic team of professionals dedicated to helping children and their families positively deal with the consequences of being exposed to armed conflict.

Your Challenge

You will work across all HR functions to help ensure we have the right people in place, take good care of our staff and promote a productive, pleasant work environment. You’ll be an independent self-starter who enjoys working with people from various backgrounds and can bring relevant experience to the role and team. Overseeing all aspects relating to HR administration you will provide generalist HR advice, support and guidance to the management team you contribute to strategy development and planning processes from a HR perspective, carrying through to implementation. You will be pivotal in ensuring adherence to War Child’s global HR Handbook and other relevant internal policies and procedures and prepare & update HR policies / procedures as needed.

Key Responsibilities

· Support the development and revision of job descriptions and job advertisements.

· Coordinate candidate review and selection process – including shortlisting, interviews and testing – with support from the Administration department.

· Ensure full adherence to Recruitment SOPs and other relevant policy documents and support revisions as needed.

· Consult/counsel managers on interview techniques and candidate selection.

· Support on-boarding and exit processes for new starters and leavers respectively.

· Maintain awareness of staff well-being levels and propose/implement new measures/initiatives where needed.

· Serve as the primary focal point on all HR/Legal matters vis-à-vis War Child’s external legal counsel.

· Stay abreast of, document and advise on relevant provisions and developments in relation to Cypriot labour law and ensure War Child remains compliant.

· Support the work permit application and renewal processes.

· Maintain salary scale and conduct salary surveys as required; support any revisions of terms & conditions, compensation or benefits; support job grading where needed.

· Support in administering applicable employee benefits, including private medical insurance and pension.

· Support and advise with regards to performance management process and practices.

· Liaise closely with Learning Promoters regarding learning, development & training initiatives.

· Provide advice and support with regard to employee relation cases.

· Serve as the HR focal point vis-à-vis relevant counterparts in War Child globally; partake in global/regional HR meetings and maintain ongoing collaboration with HR Home Office for wider organisational HR matters.

· Coordinate closely with HR personnel in country offices hosting Cyprus/Syria team members ensuring they receive adequate HR support/services.

Knowledge and Experience

· Relevant degree.

· Solid understanding of Cypriot labour law and related regulations.

· Experience with international and multi-cultural work environments, preferably work experience in multiple countries.

· Solid experience across various HR functions (recruitment, HR administration, learning & development, performance management, employee engagement, etc.).

· Excellent English written and verbal communication skills essential; Arabic proficiency a major plus.

· Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds and work across cultural – as well as departmental – boundaries.

· Ability to manage a varied, fluid and demanding workload and meet deadlines.

Location & Travel

This position will be located in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Contract

Part-time hours of approximately 28 hours per week, flexibility in terms of exact days & times. Local contract with a duration of at least 1 year with the intention of prolonging.
