At GDIT, people are our differentiator. Our work depends on an Applications Programmer joining our team to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Weather and Climate Operational Supercomputer System (WCOSS) in College Park, MD (or potential for 100% remote.)

WCOSS provides NOAA the operational High Performance Computing (HPC) resources essential to process sophisticated numerical models used to predict and understand atmospheric and oceanic phenomena for weather and climate operational use. Operating 24/7, the next 10-year WCOSS program will deliver significant computational capability that will evolve over time to keep pace with NOAA’s growing environmental modeling needs.

We are looking for individuals to join GDIT’s team to deploy, operate and support leading-edge technology for WCOSS. Specific technology training will be provided.

��� *In this role, a typical day will include:**

+ Assist users with porting, debugging, optimizing weather forecasting code.

+ Provide support and triage user tickets for issues with batch scheduler, applications and shell scripts, and user environment.

+ Develop documentation and create training material for users. Conduct periodical user training classes.

+ Experience with Cray, AMD, Cray Programming Environment (PE), lmod, PBSPro would be valuable.
��� *REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of experience working in a HPC environment.

+ Experience with HPC parallel applications, tuning and optimization.

+ Experience with various programming and scripting languages including MPI, OpenMP, FORTRAN, etc.

+ Knowledge of various HPC architectures, processors, compilers and libraries.

+ Good communication skills to identify and resolve problems.

+ Team spirit and willingness to work in teams to maintain operational performance.
