We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager to join our established and friendly The Black Country 24/7 Mental Health Helpline team.

Your role will be an homebased position meaning you can work flexibly from home with access to a office hub when you need it. You will work full time, 35 hours per week on a permanent contract with a salary of £25,690.03 to £28,879.59 per annum or £28,336.13 to £31,525.69 per annum inclusive of London Weighting. The Black Country 24/7 Mental Health Helpline will form the main first point of access for members of the public wanting or requiring direct access to mental health services, support, or advice. It will not replace all other points of access but will function to serve all and eradicate the need for people to be signposted, where the ability to provide direct access can be facilitated. The Helpline will be open access for people of all ages, available 24 hours a day, 7 days week, 365 days per year. Providing immediate access to advice, emotional support, and triage.

What will I be doing?

Key Responsibilities Of The Role Will Include

Leading and developing teams to deliver forward thinking, recovery orientated and high-quality services that meet the needs of individuals and commissioners

Delivering peer support services and supporting vulnerable people with mental health needs in the community including those who are stepping down from inpatient services

Ensuring that effective two-way communications are in place and teams are kept fully informed of national and local developments

Ensuring that the tools of person-centred recovery planning (ISSP) are embedded into local practice and that all staff are utilising RIS (Rethink Information System) correctly to record support activities

Driving compliance with all policies and regulatory requirements; whilst striving to achieve the best possible outcomes and internal/external recognition of quality

Ensuring all staff are supported and developed through on the job coaching, individual supervision, group supervision and appraisals, identifying and promptly addressing learning and development needs

Essential

What we are looking for:

experience of managing a service ideally with people with mental health needs or in another health or social care setting, including managing & supporting a staff team and volunteers

experience of working with people with mental health needs

experience of dealing with and reporting Incidents/Accidents/Near Misses and safeguarding reporting

the ability to assess, plan and monitor support to achieve & evidence recovery and service outcomes

experience of leading and managing a dispersed team across multiple sites, including recruiting and managing performance

excellent time management skills with ability to plan and prioritise a complex workload

significant knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with mental illness and I am familiar with best practice developments

excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate confidently with colleagues of all levels

ability to effectively managing budgets

have an NVQ 3 / QCF Diploma in Health & Social Care related subject

excellent IT skills – proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

Desirable

good knowledge of the local Mental Health and Health and Social Care landscape

knowledge of community navigation and social prescribing models
