Background

Save the Children International is one of the leading development organizations working in around 120 countries for children on a global scale. Save the Children started working in Pakistan in 1979 after the influx of Afghan refugees and has maintained ambitious programming in the country. We have reached 14 million children and adults in Pakistan through health & nutrition, education, climate action, child protection, livelihoods and humanitarian response programs. At present, Save the Children is also working together with the Government of Pakistan in ICT, Punjab and Sindh in COVID 19 Emergency Response.

Objective

The consultant will be providing high quality technical guidance and support to innovate, strategically design, manage and carry on the Health & Nutrition responses themed/integrated programs for the Pakistan country office, strengthen strategic engagement and collaboration with the country health and nutrition sector, and coordination mechanisms, as well as represent the organisation with key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health, UN agencies, and key INGO / CSO. The consultant would be expected to support emergency preparedness, DRR and support the assessment, design and implementation of humanitarian responses with other Public Health staff in the country setting. The consultant will take lead for new business development under Health & Nutrition response including programme/project identification and proposal management.

Deliverables:

  • Based on SC’s Health & Nutrition Strategy, create partnerships and identify funding opportunities within the private/corporate sector, foundations and High Net-Worth Individuals, to support expansion of Health & Nutrition programming in Pakistan,
  • Promote and support the CO’s Health Systems Strengthening approach that supports working in collaboration and partnership with government/national entities, local partners and working towards impact, scale and sustainability.
  • Leading and developing Health & Nutrition project concept notes and funding proposals in Pakistan.
  • Developing a fund raising strategy, and liaising with national and international donors for support of various programmes/activities/new business development opportunities.
  • Identification of key thematic areas within the Health & Nutrition sectoral programming and keeping abreast of policy changes within the Health & Nutrition sector.
  • Work with other thematic areas, including Research & Evidence teams to develop tools and ideas to improve on Health & Nutrition future programs.
  • Facilitate discussions on partnering and consortium arrangements within the Health sector.
  • Create and manage strong consortiums for specific funding opportunities in health.
  • Lead the drafting of the proposal, and provide quality oversight to sections drafted by other team members. Manage proposal process and proposal development and implementation.
  • Conduct design workshops and brainstorming meeting (when needed) with multi-disciplinary teams and relevant stakeholders to feed into the proposal development process, and work closely with NBD, SMT and other relevant staff in the proposal writing, interpretation, reviews and sign-off process.

Qualifications and Experience:

The selected Consultant will have:

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Medical or related qualification.
  • At least 5 years’ experience of working in Pakistan in Health & Nutrition in emergency or development settings.
  • Experience to write Quality proposals and concise reports as per donor specific criteria
  • Understanding of the Health and Nutrition Thematic area in Pakistan and an understanding of the health priorities impacted on by the regional or neighbouring situation.
  • Familiar with health systems, and health service provision including community health and the engagement of civil society organisations.
  • Skilled at networking, representation and partnership development in order promote learning, strengthen civil society and mobilise resources.
  • Experience of supporting humanitarian preparedness, response and recovery.
  • Fluent in English and high level of English writing skills.
