Job Description Summary
NewFields seeks a full-time (40+ hours per week) Health and Safety (H&S) Professional to support NewFields H&S program and H&S Manager. The H&S Professional will have primary responsibility of reporting to the H&S Manager for implementing, monitoring, and managing H&S functions and assisting with quality assurance to support safe day-to-day of all NewFields office based and field operations. The H&S Professional must possess secondary education (college or vocational training level) and/or equivalent experience in the fields of H&S and/or Industrial Hygiene (IH). The successful candidate will possess sound judgment and the ability to multi-task in a changing work environment with little supervision and much collaboration

Requirements
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial/RCRA/CERCLA or CSP/IH related field construction, demolition, earthworks and/or mining with H&S duties and management experience is required.
Education: High School Diploma (minimum) and secondary education preferred
Office Equipment & Electronics: Knowledge of electronic field office equipment such as printers, copiers, and computer hardware and accessories.
Industrial Hygiene Equipment & Electronics: Knowledge of and experience with field monitoring and testing equipment such as direct reading gas / particulate monitors, sound dosimetry and air monitoring and similar devices and accessories.
Computer Software Programs: Must possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft 365 Business (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint), and preferably Adobe Acrobat.
Physical Demands: Position requires mainly office work but with some fieldwork including, work observations and monitoring, may include extended hours working in the field, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Hours per Week: This is a 40-hour-per-week position. Additional hours may be assigned as required subject to office or field work and work assignments to support field work of NewFields staff and project teams.
Essential Functions
- Assist H&S Manager and Project Management Teams with site H&S system planning, monitoring, changes and continuous H&S system improvements.
- Assist H&S Manager and Project Management Teams with H&S related assistance including work logistics, management, planning and preparation for site work.
- Convey a high level of professionalism in written and verbal communications to effectively interface with staff personnel, clients, sub-contractors and vendors.
- Manage paper or electronic filing systems, and maintain documents, such as correspondence, H&S related work products, data or other materials.
- Operate field and office equipment such as, air monitoring equipment, copiers or communications systems and arrange for repairs when equipment malfunctions.
Duties and Possible Assignments Include
- OSHA / MSHA Labor hours tracking and reporting
- Medical surveillance program tracking, reporting and management
- Record and data management for third party H&S audits
- Site-specific health and safety plan preparation and/or review
- International travel program tracking and management
- Site visits for the purpose of H&S consulting, audits and/or evaluations
- Noise and/or air monitoring
- Participate in H&S program and SOP preparation and/or updates
