Permanent contract subject to final confirmation of donor funding

The total starting salary package for this position is £57,004 GBP per annum (approx. $68,309 USD) per annum (including basic salary, and allowances)

About the Ukraine Programme:

Since the Russian invasion of 24th February, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missiles, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG is in the process of establishing a formal presence in Kyiv following an initial assessment visit in April, and is coordinating with the relevant national authorities, national and international partners, and other key stakeholders to address the needs generated by the presence of explosive ordnance contamination.

About the role:

As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Head of Support Services provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the efficient and effective management of all support services for MAG’s activities in Ukraine, including Logistics, Finance, Human Resources, IT, Facilities Management and Administration. You will be responsible for managing senior staff and the role will focus on overseeing management systems, increasing the cost-efficiency and effectiveness of support service functions, ensuring the programme’s operation is compliant with donor requirements and with MAG’s internal policies and procedures. You will also be in charge of providing support to the Senior Management Team (SMT) in country in risk management.

About you:

You will have demonstrable senior management experience overseas, preferably in international aid and development with a humanitarian agency. You will need significant experience of developing, implementing and managing Finance, Logistics, HR and administrative management systems. You will also be experienced in overseeing complex financial planning, monitoring, forecasting and reporting activities within complex high volume/high risk operations. The ability to develop new business proposal / budgets and to implement and monitor policies and procedures in challenging and competitive environments will be a key part to this role.

In addition, you will be highly skilled in monitoring and managing projects and programme costing from a variety of donors and have good understanding of financial, logistics and human resources risk management areas. You will be skilled in production of high quality financial, logistics and human resources reporting and analysis. Effective financial management skills including complex financial scenario planning are essential and you will also be able to interpret and implement donor/client contract requirements. Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills, including data manipulation utilising Excel and excellent organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate activities, teams and improve processes are required. The Head of Support Services will be sensitive to cultural differences, able to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts and have the willingness and ability to work both at strategic and operational levels, with hand-on approach when required.

You will need to be motivated, self-aware, humble, flexible and committed to high quality standards and have a strong interest in and commitment to MAG’s humanitarian mandate. You will be able to demonstrate initiative, be determined, and offer an enthusiastic and a solution-oriented approach. You will also be committed to the highest quality standards, with the ability to handle and prioritize a heavy workload and to meet deadlines. Lastly, you will possess the ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally and to negotiate and influence at senior level thanks to your excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
