The Opportunity

Plan International has a global supply chain of over €300,000,000 across fifty two countries. The supply chain (including procurement, assets, fleet, stock & premises) is the backbone of the programmes and projects we deliver around the world.

We are seeking a passionate head of supply chain to join the global headquarter team and lead the global supply chain strategy implementation. You will be responsible for the implementation of a high quality and effective supply chain model for humanitarian, development and emergency responses. You will drive governance implementation (procedures, processes and tools) and provide targeted support to countries when required. As Plan International’s supply chain is decentralised, you will tailor supply chain reviews and development plans to the needs of the countries. You will play a critical role in the digitalization of the organisation (E2E ERP) in partnership with the regional supply chain specialists. In addition, the development of a right-sized digitalized fleet alongside the Fleet Manager is an on-going priority under the Head of Supply Chain.

The Head of Supply Chain plays a critical role in building and maintaining a high-functioning, diverse, inclusive, and collaborative supply chain team able to influence the supply chain development of operations worldwide.

The role reports to the Director of Logistics and Procurement and works in close collaboration with Regional Supply Chain Specialists, the Global Procurement team and System & Standards team. As supply chain is a highly integrated function, the role must have the ability to positively engage across the organisation to develop common approaches and cross-functional solutions.

The Individual

You bring;

  • Knowledge of the aid sector, including institutional Donor Grant requirements proposals, implementation, technical advice, reporting across procurement, assets management, fleet, inventory management, distributions.
  • Significant experience in humanitarian /development of supply chain strategy at a senior level
  • Significant experience of a supply chain function or managing at a senior level (e.g. deputy) in a smaller organisation
  • Innovative, a thought leader, able to think ‘outside the box’.
  • Excellent servant leadership skills
  • Analytical and Diagnostics skills – able to analyze complex information and decide on the best course of action, including presenting analyzing and action plans.
  • Excellent knowledge of excel, PowerBI and analytic tools to review supply chain data.
  • Proven people management & interpersonal skills (role model in motivating, developing and supporting others), including performance and change management and the ability to apply situational leadership.
  • Comfortable working with, and supporting, a diverse community of stakeholders at a distance, applying a coaching technical style.
  • Excellent influencing, communication, and negotiation skills to achieve strategic outcomes, comfortable working across geographical, structural and cultural boundaries, applying a breadth of approaches, styles and techniques to achieve sustainable change.
  • Patience and ability to work on the long term objectives of supply chain despite short terms challenges. Long term vision.
  • Positive attitude and “can do” approach.
