Head of Supply Chain

Salary- £55,000 to £60,000 Per Annum

Role Purpose

ShelterBox is searching for a senior humanitarian supply chain leader, to steer the Supply Chain Team through a period of change, and to lead supply chain integration within the newly formed International Programmes Directorate following a restructure and new organisational strategy.

Reporting to the Director of International Programmes, this is a transformational and impactful role. The successful candidate will manage urgent priority activities, oversee significant change management and provide quality leadership to the Supply Chain Team. A high level of humanitarian programme supply chain management experience in both country offices and head office is essential for this role.

As Head of Supply Chain, you will lead and oversee the entire supply chain function at ShelterBox, providing direct line management to three members of staff in the UK, developing workplan priorities and overseeing direct and indirect procurement activities. The Department has recently completed a humanitarian operational review, which will form the basis of strategic and departmental changes for growth, building on a significant increase in programme size in 2022.

A full review of our global and programme supply chain strategies is required next year, including our local and global preparedness and prepositioned inventory network. This role will set direction for and lead on these critical areas of work and also lead on our organisational commitments around environmental impact, sustainability and emissions reduction.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

• Responsible for overseeing all global and programmatic supply chain activity including programme supply strategy; global infrastructure; programme procurement; supply chain transparency and sustainability; supplier and partner management; inventory management and last mile logistics
• Responsible for overseeing all indirect procurement activity including IT, Fundraising & Communications, HR, Finance and Facilities
• Responsible for effective supply chain risk management
• Manage, coach and develop the Supply Chain Team to meet personal and organisational objectives, deliver best results and support the team’s wellbeing
• Provide quality leadership to the Supply Chain Team and to steer the team through a period of growth and change
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior colleagues within the IP Department and Executive Team
• Manage the successful integration of Supply Chain into Programmes
• Oversee effective decision-making with respect to ShelterBox’s supply chain
• Participate actively in and contribute to internal and external strategic meetings and initiatives of the humanitarian community where relevant e.g., Logistics Cluster, etc.
• Sponsor relevant departmental projects and set them up for success e.g., sustainable supply chain project/s, global infrastructure review, supply chain automation
• Lead work on environmental impact and emissions reduction
• Support and embed a ‘Value for Money’ culture
• Oversee any relevant policy reviews e.g., procurement and delegation of authority
• Develop a culture which actively promotes improvements in its practices, processes, and outcomes, across all aspects of its work, seeking feedback from all stakeholders
• Facilitate and support effective transition between Interim and Permanent Head of Supply Chain
• Provide timely updates to /International Programmes Director/CEO/Board of Trustees on all aspects of ShelterBox’s supply activities
• Ensure adherence to ShelterBox procedures and policies including those relating to safeguarding, safety and security
• Represent ShelterBox as required
