Location: Afghanistan

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time

Salary: £35,660 per annum (pro-rata)

Islamic Relief Worldwide is an independent humanitarian and development organisation, serving humanity for over 36 years. Our International Programme Division are currently recruiting for the position of an Head of Programme development and Quality. The Head of Programme Development and Quality will be responsible:

· To provide strategic leadership and expertise to the programme development and quality in Afghanistan.

· To Design, technical & backstopping, monitor and report high quality and high impact programming in Afghanistan.

· To ensure IR Afghanistan’s programmes meets Islamic Relief Quality Standards.

· To ensure the development and utilization of best practice for technical interventions.

· To network with, and represent Islamic Relief to partners (government authorities, donors, INGOs, local NGOs, CBOs etc)

· Lead and effectively contribute to Country Strategies and yearly plans.

· To ensure capacity building and growth of programmes staff capacities and skillsets.

The successful candidate must have or be:

  • University degree or its equivalent in management, social science, international development, public administration, or a related field.
  • Substantial experience of working with various International NGOs in developing countries.
  • Experience of developing proposals for a variety of donors.
  • Experience of successfully fundraising and dealing with EC, ECHO, UN and FCDO.
  • Experience of Programing in Conflict/post conflict countries.
  • Strategic leadership skills.
  • The capacity to develop and maintain an understanding of and be sympathetic to the social, cultural and political context of the post.
  • Knowledge/familiarity/expertise in program areas: e.g. Livelihoods, Health, Education, Community Development, Microfinance, etc.
