Klasha is a technology company that builds cross-border commerce solutions for African consumers and international businesses wanting to sell into Africa. Our mission is to make consumer goods and services online more accessible to customers across Africa. We’ve built the KlashaCheckout which allows African consumers to transact online cross-border in local African currencies alongside an entire toolkit of software products including; KlashaWire, KlashaCargo, Payment Links and the Klasha App.

Our vision is for African consumers to have the same frictionless access to the goods they want, regardless of their geographic location by transacting using African currencies and money methods.

Klasha is currently live in Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Kenya and Zambia. Klasha is backed by leading venture investors including; Greycroft (investors in Braintree and Venmo), Seedcamp (investors in Revolut), Techstars (investors in Remitly) and Plug and Play (investors in Paypal, Honey and Dropbox).

About the role

This is a company-critical role where you will provide leadership to the product team, your focus will be on delivering the products, experiences, and programs that will transform our business. To succeed, you will use customer insights, market data, and competitive information to form a view of how the needs of this segment are evolving and steer our product investments to deliver best in class solutions for today and tomorrow.

In this role you will drive a multi-year vision, define product strategy and roadmap as well as build a world-class team. We are looking for someone that brings together deep passion and experience for providing a high quality customer experience with the ability to think critically about current processes and systems. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and mentor a team of product managers, and related personnel
  • Product planning and assignment of tasks and deliverables
  • Product lifecycle management from concept to launch of the product(s) across all products/product lines
  • Assess and monitor product development sprints and enhancement opportunities
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and metrics
  • Own the product strategy and roadmap, while communicating with C-level staff, and other stakeholders
  • Lead product managers to assess product mix and contribute to determining marketing strategy
  • Monitor strategic marketing plans for each product or product line
  • Define pricing and competitive positioning for each product
  • Drive innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive action
  • Build incredible processes to deliver products that satisfy the needs of customers
  • Become the key product evangelist and participate in press activities, conferences, discussions with thought leaders and market analysts

You should apply if you have:

  • The ability to intuitively translate big picture goals to micro use cases and have a strong focus on solving core problems to deliver simple solutions
  • Customer-centric orientation with excellent ability to develop insights from a broad range of data and observations, translating them into meaningful product experiences
  • Demonstrated experience in using data driven hypothesis-based validation method for experimentation and decision making of product roadmaps and strategies
  • Proven experience leading or driving a significant company initiative that required shared buy-in and execution across a large set of teams
  • Excellent team leadership, prioritization, communication and collaboration skills, with a high level of attention to detail, and ability to work closely with executives, engineering, design, business planning, marketing, and customer service

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 6+ years experience in product development, including 4+ years leading product management teams, working with SaaS applications/Internet/software products
  • Demonstrated understanding of core product management, product development, and marketing processes/methodologies such as market needs analysis, competitive analysis, product planning, marketing programs, sales programs, branding, pricing, etc
  • 3+ years experience managing a business unit P&L that involves personnel related revenue and costs
  • Demonstrated experience as a “whole business” thinker, including being involved in decisions trading off top and bottom line and thinking through acquisition to retention
  • Fluency in SaaS economics, connecting financial outcomes with SaaS metrics
  • Demonstrated experience working at the intersection of Growth, Marketing, and Product Management would be a plus
  • Strong track record of technical product delivery with measurable results
  • Demonstrated experience as a “builder” within an Agile environment
