The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of six months. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Lviv, Ukraine.

As Head of Operations you will focus on developing efficient and cost effective Logistics department that meets the logistics guidelines, policies and procedures of JERU (Joint Emergency Response for internally displaced persons in Ukraine). You will lead the continuous improvement of logistics systems that are in place, line manage the logistics team and provide technical support to the logistics & programme teams.

Your responsibilities

  • Logistics and procurement Management
  • Programme Support on specific logistics issues
  • Stock and Property Management
  • Transport Management across the country
  • Monitoring & Reporting on vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, warehousing, supplies requests tracking and asset register
  • People Management, e.g. leading and recruiting logistics staff including a warehousing team

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in logistics or other disciplines related to the position
  • 3 years of overseas logistics experience with an International NGO, with two years’ experience at coordinator level
  • Experience on setting-up of logistical systems and related administrative procedures
  • Experience of working in insecure environments
  • Knowledge of international ordering procedures and documents i.e. cargo manifests, warehouse management skills, good understanding of in-country custom clearing procedures and supply chain to projects from capital, ability to design air, water or land logistical systems
  • Computer literate and good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for traveling to Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries
  • Excellent English; Ukrainian and/or Russian language skills would be an asset
