The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Monrovia, Liberia, with frequent travel to project locations in the country.

Our Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Country Office in Liberia has been implementing relief and development projects since 2003 with a focus on Agriculture/Inclusive Food Systems and Nutrition Security, Infrastructure, Health System Strengthening and WASH. As Head of Logistics & Procurement, you will lead and ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Logistics & Procurement Department and ensure adequate security for WHH’s assets and the safety of its employees in the country.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the procurement, delivery and tracking of goods and services in compliane with WHH and donor policies and regulations
  • Address all audit and review queries related to Logistics, Procurement and Security
  • Ensure that a fully functioning asset management system is in place in all field locations, and at the main office in Monrovia
  • Provide technical line management for all logistics and procurement staff, ensuring that they consistently comply with WHH’s standards, policies, procedures and donor contractual obligations
  • Enable Heads of Projects/Heads of Departments to effectively plan for project’s logistics and procurement needs, and take advantage of economies of scale
  • Lead the training of staff on logistics and procurement procedures and processes, and hold them accountable for compliance
  • Ensure the effective use and management of WHH’s fleet and generators
  • Ensure the effective use of all communications equipment, including Codan radios and satellite phones
  • Manage the procurement and delivery of all supplies and equipment in accordance with WHH and donor policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintain functioning warehouses as required, carry out periodic stock checks and ensure that all warehouses operate in accordance with WHH policies and procedures and standards
  • Ensure that all accidents and security incidents are reported in writing within 24 hours

Your profile

  • A university or college degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or Logistics Management, or qualifications that are commensurate with this position
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a similar position within an INGO or UN agency
  • KfW donor experience would be an asset
  • Proven knowledge of standard logistics and procurement procedures and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team and a multi-million dollar operation
  • Proven knowledge of Fleet Wave
  • Broad intercultural competence and ability to cope in a multinational team
  • Coordination and organizational skills – even under a high workload
  • Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s programme countries
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills
