Are you looking for a job that is meaningful and challenging? At Finn Church Aid, Finland’s largest international development NGO, we are looking for a new colleague to join us as a full time permanent Head of Logistics and Operations’ Support.

You will work in our Finance and Operations’ Support Department at FCA’s Service and Accountability Centre (SAC). The Head of Logistics and Operations’ Support works in close collaboration with colleagues across the group, both in Finland and abroad. The position is preferably located in our Helsinki office, yet remote work can be considered.

Primary purpose of the position:

(i) Manage the unit: take care of your team members by providing them a safe space to grow and flourish professionally; manage the allocated resources.

(ii) Procurement and Logistics: ensure timely and quality processing of all procurement activities across FCA Group, in compliance with applicable laws and guidelines; responsible for all tools and policies relevant to the area of Procurement and Logistics; responsible for ensuring that the teams across the FCA Group are properly trained in its area of responsibility.

(iii) Operations’ Support: Provide extensive support to the COs in terms of operations’ support, more specifically administration, procurement, logistics, and other areas as necessary and as agreed with the relevant directors in SAC, and strengthen the administrative backbone of the country offices in a consistent manner.

(iv) Entry/Exit direct support: provides direct support when required for new office set up or in case office is being shut down.

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • University Degree needed or sufficient experience (+10y in relevant field), specialization in Procurement or Procurement Law will be seen as an asset
  • FCA is a public procurement entity and experience in (Finnish/EU) public procurements is a must
  • 7 years minimum of work experience with an NGO, of which 2 years minimum as a Country Director or Operations’ Director in fragile contexts
  • Experience in setting up humanitarian operations from scratch and/or leading exit activities
  • Experience in providing trainings, creating training material, guidelines etc.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and provide hands on support on a wide range of topics
  • Independent and active approach to work, analytical skills
  • Great team management skills needed
  • Diligence and accuracy
  • Positive team spirit and service-mindedness across organizational boundaries in a multicultural environment
  • Very robust Excel and IT-skills
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • Fluent oral and written proficiency in English is a must; Fluent French seen as an asset.

This is a permanent position with six months’ probation period, starting as soon as possible. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience. FCA’s benefits package includes comprehensive health care and staff capacity building opportunities.
