Geneva Call

Mission

Geneva Call is a neutral and impartial non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting respect for international humanitarian norms in armed conflict and other situations of violence. Geneva Call is currently focusing its efforts on banning the use of anti-personnel mines, protecting children from the effects of armed conflict, prohibiting sexual violence in armed conflict and the protection of the medical mission.

Role

The Head of Information Technology Unit will manage the organisation’s information technology (IT) operations, ensuring the organisation has a system that meets business needs and provides efficient and effective technical support service to all colleagues both in the field operations and in HQ. The Head of Information Technology also works closely with the Project Manager lead for the digital transformation project.

Core responibilities

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the organisation’s IT systems.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with the Project Manager of the Digital Transformation Project
  • Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimise disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
  • Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  • Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinates multisite IT systems via enterprise resource planning (ERP).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Main qualifications

Professional competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science required; master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years progressively responsible experience managing an IT department preferably in the non-profit or social business, and/or philanthropy sectors.
  • Expert digital transformation/development and management skills. Expert understanding and knowledge of opportunities and advances in AI as it may be feasibly applied to the organisaton.
  • Extensive understanding of IT and practical applications to support the organisation’s goals to include all financial, administrative and programmatic business areas.
  • Experience in implementing project management structures and processes to aid collaboration, communication, and reporting.
  • Excellent listening, communication and persuasive ability.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic, and/or other languages an advantage.
