Head of Grants, Operations and Finance

Elrha is a global charity that finds solutions to complex humanitarian problems through research and innovation. We are seeking an experienced senior finance specialist, with excellent people management skills and familiarity with grant management processes, to be our new Head of Grant Operations & Finance.

As member of Elrha’s Leadership Group, and reporting to the Director of Finance & Operations, you will play a key role in providing financial and grant management strategic direction to the organisation, while ensuring our activities and finances are internally and externally compliant. You will also provide sound financial advice and information to our Directors and Board of Trustees, which will be crucial as we enter into a new strategic period (2023-2025) and we diversify our donor portfolio.

In leading the Grant Operations & Finance team, the role oversees day-to-day management of Elrha’s finances and accounting, as well as the development and implementation of effective and fit-for-purpose grant operations systems covering due diligence and contracting processes with grantees and suppliers, procurement of goods and services, risk management and donor compliance of our grant-making activities.

We are looking for a qualified accountant with significant experience in both financial and management accounting, ideally post qualification. You will also be familiar with grant management processes and tools, having worked with organisations operating within the international development or humanitarian sector.

In addition, our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience of managing restricted funding from institutional donors
• Experience of preparing financial management reports for senior leadership and of designing
• Experience of leading and managing teams with excellent people management skills
• Experience of managing annual statutory audits and preparing statutory financial statements, ideally with a UK charity
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide fit-for-purpose solutions
