Head of Finance

100% – indefinite contract
this position is based in Geneva

Mission

As Head of Finance, you will need to be a self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude, the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage your workload. You will be diligent, able to work with large data sets and be a good problem solver. You will be comfortable working autonomously and be part of the Senior Management Team.

More specifically the following responsibilities will be part of the position:

Main activities and responsabilities

  • Oversee the financial strategic planning of the Centre by evaluating its performance and potential risks.
  • Perform regular financial analysis and production of KPI metrics.
  • Develop budgets that meet the requirements of the Centre’s departments.
  • Supervise and coordinate all mandated audits, third party communications and internal control processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the company’s financial performance.
  • Prepare financial reporting to the Centre’s donors as required.
  • Recognise patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
  • Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of the Centre.
  • Responsibility for Centre tax and other filings.
  • Develop processes and rigorous financial control procedures.

Essential for the role

  • Qualified accountant with an international background.
  • Excellent knowledge of Swiss GAAP and IFRS.
  • At least 7 years’ functional experience gained within an accounting firm and in the public or private sectors.
  • Work experience in a leadership function.
  • A solid understanding of payroll processes.
  • Experience with digital processes and platforms; experience in managing ERP projects and operations desirable.
  • Swiss or EU/EFTA national or a valid work permit.

  • High level of attention to detail, the ability to analyse process flows, identify areas to improve efficiency and maintain an appropriate control framework.
  • Ability to lead by example and demonstrate a strong sense of integrity, ethics and ownership.
  • Confident to present results to an audience.
  • Keen sense of priorities to ensure efficient management of projects, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and financial reporting software (MS NAV) is expected.
  • Flexibility and loyalty, paired with responsiveness and commitment.
  • Effective influencing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and French is required; knowledge of German is an asset.
