The Opportunity

The Head for Data Engineering & Platform is a strategic position for Moove. You’ll work both within our Technology Office team and across the company to establish a data platform that unifies Moove’s data, democratises access and unlocks innovation. You will do this by leading teams of data engineers to create best in class tooling to support data science, machine learning, AI and business intelligence initiatives. You’ll inspire data engineers to engage, learn, and focus on big data technologies. You’ll empower our engineers to dream bigger about what’s possible. You’ll enjoy your time coaching your teammates, recruiting new team members, and ensuring that we are maximizing how we think about data.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the data engineering teams in unifying Moove’s data, democratizing access and unlocking innovation
  • Act as the Product lead to define the roadmap of our data engineering initiatives
  • Partner with key cross functional teams, departments and leadership to bring the company’s data together under a single interface
  • Establish key access and governance controls on top of Moove’s data landscape
  • Partner with key cross functional teams to increase data quality and trust
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow data engineers by disseminating best practices, publishing reusable tools/code and giving constructive feedback.
  • Commit to continuous learning and innovation
  • Develop a good understanding of the Business with its various domains
  • Contribute to the open source community

What You Will Need For This Position

  • An advanced degree in a quantitative field – mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, statistics, operations research, economics, etc..
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering both as an individual contributor and managing teams
  • Ability to drive, strong influencing skills and lead with or without formal power and line authority.
  • Have led technical Architecture, Design and Delivery of Big Data and Cloud Data solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP) for multiple projects
  • Knowledge of scalable data models that address a wide variety of consumption patterns including random-access, sequential access including necessary optimizations like bucketing, aggregating, sharding.
  • Experience in Performance tuning, optimization and scaling solutions from a storage/processing standpoint
  • Experience with setting up data engineering practices across architecture, design, coding and quality assurance and deployment of such through industry-standard DevOps practices for CI/CD and leveraging tools like Jenkins/Bamboo, Maven, Junit, SonarQube, Terraform (one-click infrastructure setup), Kubernetes, containerization
  • Solid understanding of Data Governance, Data Security, Data Cataloguing and Data Lineage concepts
  • Consistent record of leading and influencing projects using data and working with large scale data and infrastructure
  • Comfortable with working with multiple stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment of a global matrix organization with sensitivity and partnering
  • DevOps/DataOps skills are plus points
  • Experience as a product manager in this field is a plus
