About The Role

Head of the Novartis AG Corporate Archives, one of the oldest and largest corporate archives in Switzerland. The company archive collects, preserves and indexes historically and/or commercially relevant documents from all areas of Novartis and its predecessor companies (Geigy AG, CIBA Aktiengesellschaft, Durand & Huguenin AG, Sandoz AG and Ciba-Geigy AG). These core tasks mean that the company archive acts as an information center for all questions relating to the company’s history.

This position was posted in German and English, but it will be hired once only.

Your key responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operational management of the Corporate Archives of Novartis AG in technical and personnel terms (e.g. planning and control of tasks; formulating clear, challenging, achievable and comprehensible expectations and group objectives)
  • Representation of the company archive internally and externally (e.g. during archive tours for interested parties)
  • Responsibility for the efficient evaluation, acquisition, cataloging and communication of documents of lasting value (written and non-written records)
  • Responsibility for the proper and professional storage of archive material as well as the technical support of the stacks
  • On-site advice and support for internal and external users of the company archive

Role Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • University degree in history (Master’s degree)
  • Extensive archival expertise and several years of professional experience
  • Proficiency in German and English, good knowledge of French is an advantage
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills and enjoy leading a team
  • Ability to communicate with different stakeholder groups in an appropriate manner as well as high assertiveness, decisiveness and great quality awareness
