The Opportunity
TITLE: Humanitarian Director
LOCATION: Country Office / Port-au-Prince
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Permanent
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Humanitarian Manager will provide operational and strategic leadership and oversight for humanitarian preparedness and response. The post-holder will be the team leader for categorised responses in Haiti, within a response structure integrated into the SCI structure in Haiti. The holder of this position will be responsible for the implementation of all SCI humanitarian preparedness and response procedures and expansion of the humanitarian portfolio, including disaster risk reduction and anticipatory action. The post-holder will be accountable for ensuring SC humanitarian standards and humanitarian policy are implemented, while ensuring compliance with the SCI’ commitment to the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluent in English, French and Creole.
- Master’s degree level in Management or similar fields/or equivalent field experience
EXPERIENCE
-
Extensive experience of working within a senior management role within a complex country programme in an emergency response or fragile state; and/or extensive experience of setting up responses in out of area contexts (either where no SC presence or CO presence).

Experience of managing multi-donor, multi-site, multi-sector programmes (including ECHO, FCDO (formerly DFID) and BHA) in emergency response context.

Experience in developing humanitarian access strategies as a part of programme design and implementation.

Experience of supporting MEAL systems in large complex programmes.

Experience of developing and negotiating successful partnerships with institutional donors/ proven qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.

Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports.
