Description

The Group Tax Manager will be part of the Group Finance Team and will be responsible for managing the Group’s Tax Operating Model which involves taking ownership of Tax compliance, direct and indirect Tax, Tax planning, Transfer Pricing and intercompany agreements, Tax accounting, Tax documentation and Tax risk management for the EMPG Group.

You will notably be responsible for ensuring Transfer Pricing compliance by all regions and Local Entities in all geographies where EMPG has operations with local Transfer Pricing regulations guidelines. It also includes executing and managing the Group tax filing requirements in line with tax authorities guidelines and the Group’s tax filing strategy.

You will work closely with the Group finance team, Regional CFOs and Tax Managers, Group legal counsel, third party service providers and other tax Community members.

Group

What you’ll be doing

Tax Strategy

  • Define the Group Tax strategy and manage its implementation initiatives from a planning, compliance and risk management perspective
  • Prepare the Transfer Pricing functional analysis with external advisors
  • Deploy transfer pricing policy and formalise intercompany agreements/contracts
  • Ensure correct and timely filing of all Transfer Pricing Documentation including TP Master Files, TP Local Files, Intercompany transaction Reporting etc.
  • Support M&A transactions from a tax viewpoint

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, follow the evolution of regulations, manage tax risk and ensure tax optimization
  • Ensure follow-up and management of all tax reporting and compliance in group entities
  • Advise management on anticipated tax developments impacting business transactions and projects

Statutory Filing

  • Manage communication/representation with tax authorities, external advisers, external auditors and tax/business organizations
  • Manage all requirements for tax audits on all types of taxes, both direct and indirect
  • Overview the Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) –review of the CbCR document and filing with the Tax Authorities

Others

  • Engage regularly with Tax authorities and develop Strong relationship for all legal entities and ensure that tax regulation applied to our business in each country is the right one
  • Work closely with group finance team on tax accounting, tax provision etc
  • Present Tax position to top management for all entities on a regular basis
  • Identify tax incentive schemes for technology companies in the countries where EMPG operates

Uae

  • Ensure accounting data collection, review & integrity, reconciliation, consolidation, preparation and payment of monthly VAT liability in accordance with UAE VAT laws and regulations
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting data and reports for VAT in the general ledger
  • Assist in developing and implementing Group and Bayut/Dubizzle VAT strategy, policies and procedures for VAT accounting, compliance, and audits
  • Supervise the process for the preparation, validation and filing of monthly VAT returns in compliance with the relevant regulations.
  • Manage external tax advisors on VAT related issues
  • Deal with any other VAT or Tax assigned issue including international OpCo’s Tax matters.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified (ACA/CTA or equivalent)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law
  • 8-10 years of professional experience with extensive experience in tax
  • Previous experience in handling tax inspections is mandatory
  • Experience in tech industry or Big 4 Audit Firms is desirable
  • Experience with International tax laws
  • Ability to deal with the authorities directly, with demonstration of soft skills as well as technical knowledge and experience
  • Understanding of tax laws and accounting standards
  • General knowledge of using ERP systems
  • Ability to operate effectively with people at all levels of the business
  • Organisational and accounting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
