Virtue Integrated Elder Care are now recruiting for a Group Clinical Nurse Manager to lead and co-ordinate infection prevention and control measures across our nursing home group nationwide.

Virtue Integrated Elder Care comprises of multiple nursing home brands in Dublin, Louth, Waterford, Wexford, Carlow and Cork.

Reporting to the Group Head of Quality, Safety and Risk, the Clinical Nurse Manager in Infection Prevention and Control’s responsibilities include overseeing the quality of nursing care alongside Directors of Nursing, the development and implementation of policies and procedures, the monitoring of activity and delivery of agreed levels of service. They also play a key role in providing clinical and professional leadership and promoting the values of the organisation.

Duties Include

  • Act as an accountable role model through the provision of professional leadership and demonstration of best practice in the area of infection prevention / control.
  • Act as a resource in providing specialist knowledge, consultancy and expertise in collaboration with Virtue management, nursing and all healthcare personnel.
  • Monitor clinical practice in relation to prevention / control of infection.
  • Liaise and collaborate with local Infection Prevention and Control Committees across each of our nursing homes.
  • Maintain effective communication structures and interpersonal relations, which ensure that infection control information is conveyed quickly and effectively.
  • Co-ordinate and assist with the investigation of outbreaks of infection with particular reference to their course and mode of spread.
  • Carry out audits, complete reports and provide feedback to the Directors of Nursing and relevant personnel.
  • Provide education and advice to staff, relatives/carers on specific microorganisms.
  • Act as an advocate for residents, and/or staff on issues in the prevention and control of infection.
  • Monitor standards of hygiene in collaboration with Household Services.
  • Be aware of and implement all Policies, Guidelines in relation to Infection Prevention and Control / Decontamination
  • Evaluate regular control of infection measures by means of inspection, audit, surveillance and recommend improvement where and when necessary.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must be registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
  • At least five years post registration experience
  • Infection Prevention and Control experience in a healthcare setting
  • Have proven clinical and managerial ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Proven track record in leadership and change management
