Green Finance Lead

Purpose of Position: To drive the growth of our Climate, Environment & Natural Resources (CENR) portfolio by leading business development, technical delivery, and thought leadership activities areas such as blended climate finance, forests and land use, climate change adaptation and resilience, climate mitigation, low carbon transitions, clean (renewable) energy, sustainable landscapes, biodiversity conservation, disaster risk management, and environmental policy.

Primary Responsibilities: Reporting to the portfolio Director, some of the key responsibilities will include

Business Development – Capture manages new UK Government tenders and other business opportunities; leads capture teams throughout and ensures that good practice capture processes are followed. – Meets regularly with clients both in Europe and in embassies/offices overseas to keep updated on: (i) client priorities and concerns in the CENR sector, and (ii) opportunities in upcoming pipelines (iii) new and emerging themes arising from thematic / country regional contexts. – Writes/contributes to technical proposals for UK Government and other donor-funded; also reviews commercial costings and cost structures to ensure coherence with the technical proposals. – Identifies, builds and maintains relationships with partners and consultants that provide technical expertise to both proposals and/or projects. – Identifies new markets and sales opportunities, extensions, direct sales, and proposal opportunities to expand Palladium’s technical expertise on existing lines of business. – Collaborates with peers to identify and assess new viable business approaches and potential markets for those services.

Project Management – Directs and manages complex components of large projects or programmes, or series of smaller projects, with responsibility for work planning, budget management, project deliverables, client relations, risk management, and staff supervision. – Leads teams to implement and start up new work including assignment and management of staff to new activities, initiatives, or projects. – Manages relationships with partner organizations to ensure compliant, high-quality delivery of inputs, within budget and the achievement of agreed-upon outputs and outcomes. – Builds project team cohesiveness; leads, mentors, trains, and motivates project staff to ensure cooperation, project effectiveness and efficiency, and maintenance of team morale. – Manages project changes including project scope, schedule, and costs and ensures that project plans, risk registers, budgets and forecasts are accurate, updated and timely. – Acts as main point of contact for regular communication to all stakeholders. – Performs other duties as assigned.

Technical Leadership Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor on: (i) blended climate finance (particularly public finance for climate initiatives) (ii) forests and land use – Leads technical work in the topic area including research, analysis, and publication of short articles, technical reports, case studies, policy and program approaches, and technical tools on topics relevant to the growth of Palladium CENR’s existing lines of business – Oversees and ensures the quality of the development of reports, budgets, work plans, proposals, and other outputs for internal and external stakeholders. – Helps Palladium maintain an industry presence as a thought leader by presenting at annual conferences and meetings, and (when relevant) publishing in peer-reviewed journals A

Required Qualifications: – Substantial experience climate change adaptation and mitigation, clean energy, forests, and land use, commodity trade, biodiversity conservation, disaster risk management or environmental policy. – Substantial experience managing multiple complex projects in a time-sensitive environment. – Extensive experience with conceptualizing, and effectively communicating and presenting ideas to small and large groups. – Extensive experience implementing publicly funded UK Government or other donor-funded projects in developing countries and transition economies. – Relevant experience working in developing countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas that are high priority for UK Government international development and climate objectives. – Successful track record in leading and winning proposals for development agencies in climate finance, climate change, environment, and natural resources – Experience on developing country issues and/or contexts
