Volunteer Position: Graphic Designer

Job Title: Volunteer Graphic Designer

Reporting To: R&D Manager, Communications Director, Partnerships Director

Hours: 6-12 hours weekly on average Commitment Duration: 1 year

Location: Anywhere with good communications & internet

Role Summary

This role provides an exciting opportunity to create informative and inspiring visual content that helps fulfill Young Peacebuilders vision of equipping more children and youth as peacebuilders. The Volunteer Graphic Designer will create peacebuilding-related content that captures the attention of youth, children, and the general public, and inspires, educates, and/or motivates clear action. The Graphic Designer will work with both our dynamic Research & Development, Communications and Partnerships teams on a variety of creative projects.

Responsibilities

  1. Combine art and technology to communicate ideas through graphics
  2. Transform statistical data, processes, and other training information into visual graphics and diagrams using images, text, and colour to make ideas more accessible and improve child and youth peacebuilding related training tools
  3. Advise on the development of multimedia material and strategies to reach a particular audience
  4. Create images/logos/ graphics that convey a message and may shared on diverse platforms, including YPC materials, social media and newsletters sent through third-party email software
  5. Develop graphics for websites
  6. Develop various visual content informing about YP’s work
  7. Gather and incorporate ideas recommended by the Research & Development and/or Communications teams into the final design
  8. Develop training, informational, promotion, and other videos

Experience & Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Regular access to the Internet, and decent connection for video calls
  2. Experience, understanding and knowledge of graphic design software, Photo editing, and Multimedia content development. Personal access to graphic design software such Adobe In Design , Adobe Illustrator and Canvas.
  3. Creative- must be able to think of new approaches to communicating ideas to children and youth and adults
  4. Must be able to collaborate and get along with others when they work as part of a design team
  5. Learner with ability to work remotely
  6. Video editing skills
