Background

The Ethiopia Support Program (ESP) is funded by the Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) as part of the Bureau of Conflict Prevention & Stabilization within the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The program is operated through a contract with Dexis Consulting Group (Dexis) from its office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

ESP’s goal is to build an enabling environment for inclusive and peaceful national consensus processes by strengthening intra- and inter-group relationships and actions, advancing inclusive and constructive public discourse, and mitigating mis/disinformation and hate speech.

ESP seeks to commission graphic design services and communications support to assist the project.

Overview

The OTI/ESP team seeks graphic design consultants of various backgrounds and skillsets to support the program. Consultants will provide graphic support to the ESP team related to a variety of tasks and deliverables.

Tasks to be Performed

  • Produce a variety of visual information media; infographics, one-pagers, illustrations, publications, presentations, and interactive materials
  • Edit, review, and design multimedia materials
  • Participate in the planning of deliverable reports and documents as needed
  • Design and create reference maps
  • Create materials for release to government stakeholders or public dissemination
  • Provide assistance to the ESP field communications and programmatic staff
  • Support the implementation of USAID graphic standards on all new and revised published products.
  • Responds to feedback from ESP staff and USAID/OTI revising products in an iterative process.
  • Other related tasks

Reporting: The Graphic Design Consultant(s) will report to the Chief of Party (COP) and their designee.

Dates of Assignment: Anticipated period of performance July 14 – February 2024

Duration: Anticipated 100 days of LOE

Qualifications:

  • Degree in graphic design, communications, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience providing graphics, digital media, and other multimedia support
  • Experience providing support to government agencies required, experience working with USAID/OTI programs preferred.
  • Portfolio of samples that demonstrate graphic design experience
  • Ability to respond quickly to requests often with a turnaround of 24 to 48 hours.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite, Data Visualization Libraries/Engines
