THE ORGANISATION

Open Cultural Center (OCC) is a dynamic NGO dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and providing support to migrant and refugee communities. We are passionate about creating inclusive spaces, promoting social and labour integration, and advocating for the rights and opportunities of marginalised groups. Our diverse projects span from educational programs to community events, all aimed at empowering individuals.

We have our main office in Barcelona, with a team of 15 to 20 employees and various volunteers. In addition to the work we carry out in Greece, some of our main activities in and around Barcelona are: a coding bootcamp (MigraCode), a community for women interested in tech (CodeWomen), a housing program for migrant youth in rural areas (Youth4All), and a language school (Language Lab).

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a highly motivated Grants and Trusts Officer to play a pivotal role within the Fundraising team. This position involves developing, writing, submitting, and following up proposals to secure funding from public and private grants, as well as maintaining relationships with donors and partners. It also involves regular prospection of grants and funding opportunities, as well as contacting and interacting with multiple partners to develop joint proposals.

The officer will work closely with the Fundraising Manager to ensure that the organization’s fundraising goals are met. This role requires strong writing and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to design and develop multiple projects simultaneously.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

Grant Proposal Development (50%)

  • Assist in the identification of new grant opportunities in line with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager to draft and submit high-quality grant proposals, ensuring they align with donor requirements and organizational priorities. It includes assisting in the development of the proposal budget.
  • Collect and organize all necessary documentation and data for grant applications.
  • Work closely with OCC’s team members to gather input and ensure that the proposals are comprehensive and align with the needs of OCC’s main activities.

Grants Management and Reporting (30%)

  • Manage the day-to-day administration of awarded grants, including tracking deadlines, reporting requirements, and compliance with grant conditions.
  • Support when needed on the timely submission of reports to grant funders in collaboration with Project Managers, detailing the progress and impact of funded projects.
  • Maintain an updated calendar of grant deadlines, ensuring timely submission of all required documentation.
  • Assist in the development of financial reports funded projects.

Donor Relations (10%)

  • Maintain and develop relationships with existing grantors and trust funders through regular communication and updates.
  • Support the Fundraising Manager in identifying and cultivating new relationships with potential grantors and trust funders.

Coordination and Collaboration (10%)

  • Work closely with the Fundraising Manager and other team members to align grant-seeking activities with broader fundraising strategies.
  • Participate in fundraising meetings and contribute to the development of long-term strategies for grant funding.
  • Collaborate with the Communications department and Project managers to highlight funded projects and their outcomes, ensuring transparency and visibility for donors.
  • Work collaboratively with Project and Communication teams to ensure that project implementation is aligned with institutional donor guidelines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required skills, competencies and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Science, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, etc.).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising, with a strong focus on European projects (e.g., AMIF, Erasmus+) and/or local and regional grants (e.g., Ajuntament de Barcelona, Diputació, IRPF, COSPE).
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Strong written communication skills and capacity to adapt content to a variety of audiences, both in English and Spanish.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred skills

  • Familiarity with CRM systems (experience with Airtable is a plus).
  • Fluency in Catalan (written and spoken).
  • In-depth knowledge of migration issues.

  • An annual gross salary from 21.000 to 23.000€/year based on experience and profile.
  • 38,5h a week, 13 payments, and a holiday period of 30 working days per year (42 natural days).

WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS?

  2. When the first interview result is positive, we will ask you for the completion of an assignment. The assignment will relate to fundraising and will mimic a task that you may undertake if you are chosen.
  3. When the result of the assignment is positive, there will be a second interview. In this interview we will discuss in more detail the skills and experience you have, and how these fit the position. We will also discuss the result of the assignment and any feedback you have regarding the assignment.
  4. When the second interview is positive, you will have your final interview with the director of the organisation. Together with our hiring team, the director will make the final decision about the hiring process outcome.
