Reports to: Regional Program Officer
Organization: Jesuit Refugee Service Asia Pacific (JRSAP)
Location: Bangkok, Thailand (or remote-based)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an International Catholic agency with a mission to accompany, serve and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. It is essentially a service-oriented organization offering direct assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons in Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. The style of service is direct and personal, working in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term well-being of refugees and displaced persons, while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs. In Asia Pacific, JRS is present in 8 countries including Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. JRS Asia Pacific serves forcibly displaced person including asylum seekers, refugees, and internally displaced persons throughout urban and rural areas. The main areas of work include education, psychosocial services, peace and reconciliation, livelihoods, and protection issues. Overall Position Purpose:
The Grants and Fundraising Assistant (GFA) is responsible for providing support to the Regional Office in fulfilling grant requirements and improving fundraising strategies in the region to strengthen grant management, program quality, donor relations, and donor portfolio. The GFA will play a key support role in exploring new regional initiatives and funding opportunities in the region. The GFA will work with JRS Asia Pacific regional staff and assist Country or Project Office staff as delegated.

Responsibilities:
The Grants and Fundraising Assistant will provide support to the Regional Office in the following aspects of grants and fundraising work:

Grants Management
• Encode necessary grants information in grants management tool; coordinate with Regional Finance Officer to complete data requirements of the tool; and analyze/monitor results based on consolidated data
• Manage digital files by uploading and organizing grants-related materials on SharePoint that include but are not limited to the following: reports, proposals, research, assessment, evaluation, agreement documents
• Keep track of grant applications; monitoring of funding opportunities; and, preparing of requirements for new applications
• Assist in providing feedback to follow-up questions or requests from donors and partners
• Support in monitoring of JRS compliance to documentary requirements and coordinating with Regional Office staff to fulfill the requirements on time. Coordination with Country or Project Office staff might be delegated when necessary
• Support in achieving donor compliance; regional strategic plans; and monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) targets in the region under different thematic areas and/or categories of assistance such as but not limited to education, MHPSS, livelihood, peace and reconciliation, emergency aid, child protection and safeguarding, PSEAH, environment
• Support donor relations and meet with donors as needed during introductions calls, project orientation, trainings, workshops, MEAL activities, among other engagements, and assist in responding to any follow-up requests or questions before or after the meetings
• Assist in emergency response planning and interventions when needed

Fundraising
• Develop, optimize, and monitor Fundraise Up, JRS online donation system
• Strengthen donor relations through Customer Relations Management (CRM) system
• Upload and organize fundraising-related materials such as but not limited to photos and stories from 2010-2020 on SharePoint
• Identify and inform team about opportunities from development donors and philanthropic organizations in the region
• Support in the conduct of survey and review of fundraising in the region that include profile of stakeholders and donors including their priorities, strategies, and philanthropic goals
• Support in setting up of proactive and innovative fundraising goals and strategies in accordance with the results of fundraising portfolio
• Support in the development of fundraising activities and materials that include all aspects of production (creative ideas, stories, graphic design, photography, and video editing)
• Assist in integrating fundraising goals with JRSAP communication channels to strengthen donor relations and improve visibility to donors on various outlets such as social media, Diakonia, or JRSAP website

Qualifications and Experience:
• University degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Public Affairs, International Affairs, Development Studies, Business, Economics, or relevant fields
• Fluency in English language. Knowledge of one regional language in Asia Pacific is an advantage
• Minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in development work for an international NGO in grant or portfolio management, fundraising, and communications
• Experience working with and for refugees is essential; regional experience is an advantage
• Above average digital literacy that include expertise in Microsoft Office and 365, Adobe applications; expertise in social media use, functions, and purpose; and familiarity with graphic design and video editing tools
• Experience with budgeting and the monitoring of funds
• Strong analytical and data skills
• Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Highly motivated and creative individual with passion for service, innovation, evidence-based development in the context of the new normal
• Ability to work successfully in a multi-cultural and multi-faith environment and able to deal with limited resources and challenges

Conditions:
• One-year contract (renewable) with an initial three-month probation period.
• JRS offers a localised salary with health insurance and other benefits. Details will be discussed with short-listed candidates; salary depends on the status and qualifications of the successful applicant.
