As a result of our expansion, we now have the opportunity for an experienced or Graduate or experienced Defectivity Engineer to join our device and testing group here at Nexperia Newport.

About The Role

In this role, you will be working with the Defectivity Team supporting both Manufacturing and New Product Introduction on site. We are launching new technologies here at Nexperia that help our applications work towards Net Zero. This role is open to both Graduates based in the UK or Senior level candidates based in and outside of the UK.

What you will do

  • You will be responsible for responding to out of control actions across all defect metrology tools
  • You will Drive containment actions with the shift process teams on site
  • Dispositioning of lots with the shift teams
  • You will be responsible for writing and updating defect metrology tool recipes
  • You will Identify and resolve defect reduction projects

What you will need

  • It is essential that applicants can demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team, and have good communication and interpersonal skills. A good level of numeracy is needed for the job
  • A degree or equivalent in either a scientific or engineering discipline is preferred although not essential to the role
  • If you are an experienced applicant then you will need at least 2+ years of hands on experience as a Defect Engineer within the semiconductor industry

Desired Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and technical skills – able to demonstrate the ability to drive continuous improvement activities and projects for assigned measurables/KPI.
  • Post supports 24/7 operations so requires flexible approach to working pattern & requires successful candidate to have good communication skills both written & verbal as team consists of day shift & shift personnel so interpersonal skills will be required.
