Context of your role @CHANEL

One of the main challenges of the Global Travel Retail (GTR) team is, in a matrix context, to improve the competitiveness and image of the House compared to global groups / multi-brands very active in this sector.

In addition, Global Travel Retail must provide markets and divisions with better visibility, understanding and expertise of this channel to foster the influence of the House with the stakeholders and partners of the travel Retail industry.

For this, it is necessary to strengthen the Global Travel Retail community with a “Global Travel Retail Event & Communication Manager” whose main missions are as follows:

  • Responsible for the TFWE (Tax Free World Exhibition in Cannes and Singapore) organization and event management.
  • Responsible for the “TR Industry meeting and sharing events”.
  • Responsible for the CHANEL TR community seminar, meeting & workshops.
  • Responsible for the Global TR community and industry newsletter

One of the key targets besides the Brand Image will be to extend the knowledge on high level management touchpoints and gain connections with airport ecosystem stakeholders and improve the CHANEL Business Influence within this ecosystem.

What impact you will create at CHANEL:

The Communication & Event Manager at CHANEL significantly impacts the brand by enhancing engagement and visibility in the premium Travel Retail sector. This role involves expertly organizing major industry events, including the prominent Tax-Free World Exhibition in Cannes, and effectively coordinating internal seminars and workshops. By overseeing the creation of a global travel retail community newsletter, the manager fosters a TR community adhesion. These efforts contribute to strengthening CHANEL’s influence and reputation in the TR environment.

Main accountabilities:

Integrated to the Global Travel Retail team in Geneva and under the supervision of Global Travel Retail Business Intelligence & Insights Marketing Director, you manage and organize external, public Travel Retail events as well as internal happenings dedicated to TR. You will also oversee the in-House communication to feed the worldwide TR Community with news from the TR ecosystem inside and outside the brand.

Responsible for the brainstorming, development, organization, and management of TFWA Events – in Cannes and Singapore (The biggest events of our industry- budget 1.5 M€, to showcase our novelties and meet the Travel Retail Operators as partners and all TR stakeholders, twice a year (Singapore in May, Cannes in October)

TR CHANEL TR Community Seminar, meeting, and workshops (Once a year, our TR CHANEL Community needs to meet all together to share, challenge, work together. These events will be dedicated to feed them and open their strategic thinking on new global vision and a common brand posture.)

TR Industry meeting and sharing (A new meeting to be invented to put the brand at the center of the TR ecosystem as a leading brand and important stakeholder of the industry)

Global TR Community and Industry Newsletter (A quarterly newsletter with TR hot topics from inside and outside the Brand.)

What you will bring to the role:

  • Synthetic spirit, methodic and detailed oriented.
  • Very good relationship skills, with a can-do attitude.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking.
  • Autonomy and initiative oriented
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate with other departments and senior management.
  • Proven experience in project management and similar function.
  • Position based in Geneva, permanent, full-time
