  • Capacity development of managers in security management, ensuring they can comply with agreed systems and procedures.
  • Ensuring relevant global training programmes are appropriate, functioning and delivering to timetable.
  • Humanitarian policy issues as they relate to the changing global security environment.

The GSPAA will work closely with CAFOD’s partners. This will require a range of levels of support including:

  • Providing security advice, coordination, and training for SCIAF, CAFOD’s sister organisation based in Glasgow. The role provides similar function across both organisations.
  • Supporting other members of the Caritas network whether at country, regional, or international level with security advice and expertise, and coordinating with peers to improve security across the network.
  • Working directly with local partners to develop and support a high quality security management function.
  • Actively seeking out opportunities to provide support to other agencies.

Based within CAFOD’s International Programmes Group, the ideal candidate will be a seasoned security professional with extensive experience of working in a partner-led global INGO, able to work comfortably with minimal supervision and with stakeholders at all levels and across cultures. The role advisory and is not responsible for managing security, which is held by country and line managers.
