This is a remote position, open to candidates globally.

About the Opportunity.

The Global Safeguarding Manager (GSM) will provide oversight and technical expertise for safeguarding incident investigations, and help to strengthen the capacity of key staff across the organization, to raise awareness and champion best practice. The GSM will assist in strengthening RI’s safeguarding framework, policies and procedures across the organization, helping to ensure that safeguarding is an integral part of RI service delivery.

Your responsibilities will be

  • Respond to, investigate or coordinate the investigation of allegations of safeguarding violations, overseeing approx. 25 investigations on a rolling basis, directly managing approx. 12 per year.
  • Support capacity development of country safeguarding focal points.
  • Support Investigation Managers and Safeguarding Focal Points to undertake safeguarding incident investigations.
  • Assure a network of support for country safeguarding focal points to ensure continuous development and guidance.
  • Design and deliver internal training that will help develop confidence and competence within the organisation to embed a safeguarding culture.
  • Assist in the completion of safeguarding incident reporting to donors and other relevant regulating bodies (e.g. ECHO, USAID etc.)

About You.

You will bring the following experience and skills.

  • Degree or equivalent experience in social work, international development, human rights, public health, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in safeguarding, child protection, or related areas are beneficial.
  • Significant experience in conducting and coordinating safeguarding investigations and case management within the humanitarian sector.
  • Experienced in implementing safeguarding policy and practices and developing a safe and trusted culture in an international organization.
  • Experience supporting the design and implementation of humanitarian and/or development programming – including conducting safeguarding risk assessments, risk mitigation planning, and the development of effective complaints and feedback mechanisms.
  • Experience designing and delivering safeguarding awareness training in different settings for varied audiences, with the ability to adapt complex information according to the audience.
  • Fluency in English is required, additional languages relevant to RI’s countries of operation would be a bonus.
