Your Challenge

War Child’s dedicated Governance & Organizational Development team (also known as the “GoOD team”) is responsible for the governance and organizational development of War Child. The GoOD team mandate covers governance, legal, integrity (adult/child safeguarding & anti-fraud and anti-corruption), internal audit, organizational development and culture. Together we strive for optimal organizational quality and integrity in the broadest sense of the word.

As the Global Internal Auditor & AFAC Lead you are the driving force and face of the organisation when it comes to anti-fraud and anti-corruption and internal audits. You lead on AFAC investigations and awareness-raising, develop AFAC capacity in the organisation and collaborate with colleagues worldwide on organizational learning and improvement via the internal audits.

As Global Internal Auditor & AFAC Lead you are a part of the GoOD team, and report to the Manager Governance & Organisational Development. You work closely with the other Integrity Advisors, country management teams and the Audit Committee of the Supervisory Board.

This position can be stationed in the countries where WCH has its offices (the successful candidate needs to be eligible to work in that location; preference given to local candidates).

Your Responsibilities

· Provide leadership and guidance to AFAC incident management and investigations.

· Advise, support and empower colleagues worldwide on AFAC matters.

· Strengthen capacity and learning by providing training, workshops and support on AFAC within the organisation and beyond.

· Lead on internal audits and collaborate with & advise colleagues worldwide to improve War Child organisational quality in the areas of e.g. finance, logistics and HR.

· Develop and maintain relevant policies and procedures, like the AFAC policy, Internal Audit Charter and standard operating procedures.

Your Profile

· Post graduate qualification in a specialist technical or professional field relevant to role (e.g. finance, business administration, compliance, or related).

· Qualification of professional auditor (RA/CPA/FCA) is an added benefit.

· Extensive experience, knowledge and skills in all stages of AFAC Incident management and managing/conducting fraud/corruption investigations.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience with performing audits in international settings, ideally in development and humanitarian sector.

· Knowledge of and insight in the internal control system, policies, procedures and processes of NGOs, of the risks and of the implementation in practice.

· Skilled in designing and facilitating adult learning and awareness raising in different cultural and organizational contexts.

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and form effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating patience, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to culturally diverse environments.

· Fluency in English and preferably one or more other languages such as French, Spanish or Arabic.

· Prepared to travel to War Child offices in other countries as required.

· Affinity with War Child’s mandate, values and mission.

· Eligibility to work in the country where WCH has an office.

· Available for ideally 40 hours per week.

Our offer

Depending on the duty station, local contract with salary and secondary labour conditions based on the country’s salary scale and T&C will apply.

Location: any countries, where War Child Holland has its offices. The successful candidate needs to be eligible to work in that country. Preference will be given to local candidates.**

Contract: War Child standardly offers a 1-year contract with the intention to prolong after that.
