Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Global Institutional Funding Coordinator to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester (although the role will initially be home-based during Covid-19 restrictions). You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31-37k per annum.

As a Global Institutional Funding Coordinator, the successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting Human Appeal’s HQ and Country Field Offices in the organisation’s growth through proactive management and coordination of institutional funding and strategic partnerships across Human Appeal’s primary countries of work. The Global Institutional Funding Coordinator will focus on securing funds and developing relationships with Institutional Donors, Trusts and Foundations in the UK, Europe, the USA, and elsewhere globally. We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Global Institutional Funding Coordinator:

  • ​**Funding Strategy, planning and IF donor mapping:**

  • To support IF manager in HQ in analysing global funding landscape, new funding trends and global donors’ funding priorities.

  • To support IF manager in HQ in developing global donor mapping through gathering related donors’ intelligence and identifying new potential donors for HA humanitarian and development projects.

  • To assist IF manager in HQ in developing donors detailed profiles related to institutional donors mainly based on their thematic and geographical preferences. These include EU/ECHO, FCDO, USAID, IsDB, OFID, OFDA, GOCA, Isle of Man etc.

  • To assist IF manager in HQ in developing donors detailed profiles related to Trusts and Foundations as well as private sector. This includes Coca Cola, IKEA, OPEC, Bill and Melinda gates foundation, Ford foundation etc.

  • Networking and Donors’ Relationships:

  • To support IF manager in identifying, approaching, and meeting new donors, INGOs, NGOs, Universities, Corporates, Research centres, Trusts and Foundations and private sector reps in the UK and globally.

  • To support IF manager at HQ in identifying and building global consortiums at UK, Europe and USA levels.

  • To support comms team in HQ in developing quarterly impact reports, to be shared with donors globally.

  • To identify list of annual global funding conferences and networking events.

  • To participate in relevant internal and external working groups, conferences and workshops Like Charter4change, BOND, SIDA etc.

  • To activate HA participation and membership in global funding and coordination platforms.

  • Proposal Development and Project Designing:

  • To provide long distance support to HA’s country offices in terms of proposal development, project design, narrative and financial reporting to institutional donors and strategic partners.

  • To support HA country offices in supporting all the relevant documents for submission to institutional donors, trusts, foundations, strategic partners etc.

  • To ensure all submissions are in line with donor guidelines, internal criteria and international standards.

  • To work with colleagues within the Institutional Funding Team in HQ and country offices, to improve the quality of proposals and reporting together with improving donor relationships.

NB: Employee duties are not limited only to the above-mentioned Accountabilities; he/she may perform other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for in our Global Institutional Funding Coordinator:

  • Graduate in International Development or a related field, ideally with a Master’s-level qualification
  • Sufficient experience working with INGOs and high-profile institutional donors, including;

  • a proven track record of securing funding from high-profile institutional donors like FCDO, ECHO, USAid, UN Agencies, GIZ or SIDA etc.

  • a proven track record of securing funding from corporates, trusts and foundation

  • experience in devising donor scooping reports as well as solid understanding of donors’ due diligence and compliance requirements

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and a strong understanding of the Institutional Funding landscape

  • Ability to identify institutional funding opportunities, and mobilising internal stakeholders to fully capitalise on these opportunities

  • A high level of financial literacy – ability to understand and summarise financial information, develop budgets and demonstrate value for money in proposals

  • Strong proposal development skills and familiarity with the processes of responding to funding bids/opportunities

  • Highly developed written and oral communication, negotiation, persuasion, interpersonal and networking skills that result in the production of clear and persuasive proposals and donor relations

  • Track records in developing and maintain strong working relationships with donors

  • Strong experience in project design, project proposal development and writing

  • Must be computer-literate with advanced Excel skills and, ideally, a good understanding of Salesforce

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector
