About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role:

As part of our strategic priority to ‘Strengthen our Systems and Processes’ MAG is thrilled to expand its Programme Information Management unit, and to establish our Amman Office as the organization’s Global Hub of excellence for Digital Innovation and Information Management. We are actively seeking for our Global Information Management (IM) Project Manager to join our global team. This is an international role, based in Jordan but involving multiple international travels to MAG’s working countries worldwide.

As our Global IM Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of the MAG IM system at global level to support MAG’s Humanitarian Mine Action and Weapon Ammunitions Management efforts. The IM Project Manager will plan, coordinate, monitor, and manage the quality and efficiency of the IM projects at global and programmes level. This involves the development, implementation and monitoring of IM standards, ensuring the effective data collection, analysis and sharing of information.

This position requires a strong understanding of information management systems, ESRI environment and project management within a mine action context.

About you:

The successful candidate will have extensive expertise in managing information management projects, including data collection, validation, analysis, and sharing within the mine action sector. They will have advanced skills in leading complex cross-functional projects, coordinating with diverse stakeholders in multicultural environments. Proficiency in data architecture, data management, and ArcGIS applications is essential, alongside strong process mapping abilities. Excellent communication, problem-solving acumen, attention to detail, and mediation skills are crucial for this role.

About the Programme Information Management (PIM) unit:

The Global IM Project Manager operates within the PIM unit. The PIM unit was established in the second semester of 2023 and integrated into the Programme Quality Team (PQT) at the global level, under the direction of programmes. The PQT consists of three closely collaborating units: the Standard, Training, and Compliance unit (STCU); the Programme Performance and Learning unit (PPLU); and the PIM unit. The PIM unit is undergoing expansion, increasing from 2 staff members in 2023 to 8 to 10 individuals in 2024, coinciding with the establishment of an IM hub in Amman, Jordan.
