Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion Expert | Global GESI Director

Position Location: Washington, DC.

Position Summary:

Creative is searching for a Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion Expert | Global GESI Director to serve as the overall GESI and indigenous peoples lead for the project and to ensure the effective inclusion of GESI and IP-focused considerations into all activities across all three objectives. The GESI Director will contribute to the project’s work plan development, indicator selection and monitoring of GESI focused results, and the project’s development and learning agenda. Position will be based the Washington DC Area; remote work options may be available for highly qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

Reporting & Supervision:

The Global GESI Director reports to the Chief of Party

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to defining the project’s overall technical approach, drafting annual work plans, and implementing an integrated set of activities to achieve project goals in a way that will expand economic opportunities or provide targeted services to the benefit of women, youth, and other marginalized populations.

  • Coordinates with the DCOP of Climate Financing, and the Investment Platform’s Portfolio Directors to tailor project activities to enhance the involvement of women, youth, and other marginalized populations.

  • Collaborates with the project’s M&E staff to propose indicators and collect and analyze data for monitoring, learning, and reporting.

  • Ensures that the activities and results are implemented in a timely manner within the approved budget.

  • Promotes the importance of IP-GESI activities and considerations to the project team, and among partners and stakeholders.

  • Provides and designs IP-GESI trainings for project staff, partners, stakeholders and target beneficiaries as needed.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in gender and youth development studies or similar fields.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in indigenous populations, gender or youth development, including at least 5 years in the areas of climate financing, clean energy, adaptation and resilience, or nature-based solutions required.

  • Experience identifying opportunities and barriers related to expanding incomes or economic opportunities for women, youth, and other marginalized populations

  • Familiarity with USAID Gender and Inclusion policies and practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Fluency in English required.
