Can you provide operational management during emergency responses, ensure humanitarian standards and technical quality of response operations, and drive support and capacity building of local partners?

Danish Red Cross (DRC) is hiring two roaming Global Disaster and Crisis Delegates.

Disaster and Crisis The positions will support the recent launched and ambitious new international strategy for Danish Red Cross in making a difference for people living in complex and protracted crisis contexts with a focus on health, disaster management, and inclusion of marginalized groups. To achieve the ambitious goal of the DRC International Strategy of: Disasters damage fewer lives – People anticipate, cope with, and recover from crisis, Danish Red Cross is looking for experienced disaster management delegates to be part of DRC Disaster and Crisis Response Unit global humanitarian delegate team.

About the position DRC works with national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in 16 countries across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa to deliver humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations. Besides our own humanitarian response, DRC work multilaterally with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

DRC respond to disaster and crisis globally and deploy delegates to support the humanitarian response operations.

Your tasks will be to contribute to the operation management of disaster and crises response operations. This includes ensure humanitarian standards, assess needs and capacities, analyse response options and design responses, build capacity of partners, contribute to the managing of response operations, support the work to mobilize resources and raises funds for response operations, and develop and strengthen the strategic approach to disaster and crisis response.

We are looking for candidates that can work independently and who have strong interpersonal skills, are strategically, and are able to drive and manage humanitarian response operations.

We are looking for candidates that can sign of to the below.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant working experience, including international working experience
  • Humanitarian experience, including knowledge of and experience with operation management, relief operations, health in emergencies, cash and voucher assistance, or similar
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge of wide-ranging crosscutting issues, e.g. needs assessment, information management, disaster preparedness, etc
  • Ability to work under pressure in chaotic environments
  • Flexibility and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to local cultures and be able to work with and be supportive of local partners, staff, and volunteers
  • Innovative, proactive and with strong interpersonal skills
  • In good mental and physical health (extensive health check is mandatory before deployment)

The starting date is as soon as possible. The positions are global but with a duty station in Copenhagen, Addis Ababa, or Beirut when not deployed globally.

We offer​ An exciting, inclusive, and committed work environment in the Disaster and Crisis Unit.

The positions require flexibility and willingness to be deployed for minimum 8-9 months a year.

The monthly salary including allowances and pension within the range of DKK 40.000 and DKK 43.500, depending on experience and qualifications. It is a non-family position. The position is two-year with possibility for extension.
