Background

Maintain effective and positive internal communication with iMMAP Ukraine office team members to be in line with the policies and procedures and exchange knowledge.

Description of Duties

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • GIS
  • Checking and cleaning the topology of the GIS layers, consolidation and documentation (metadata) of relevant spatial and attribute datasets in line with UN standards.
  • Provide cartographic services to UNOCHA and Humanitarian Clusters/Partners including map production and development of map templates, reference maps, thematic maps.
  • Conduct spatial analysis/remote sensing to create new layers for Ukraine.
  • Management of geodatabase to keep the GIS layers centralized and updated.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of maps, spatial data.
  • Manage the digitization and georeferencing of paper and scanned maps.
  • Creating documentation and building the capacity of the team.
  • Support the Project Manager with harmonization through standardized templates, products, etc..
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Education
  • University degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Information Science, Geographical Information Systems, Computer Science or other relevant field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of work experience in the field of Information Management is essential;
  • Experience
  • Experience in data processing and analysis, creation of reports;
  • Experience in the use of software, such as ArcGIS, QGIS;
  • Excellent command of Office suite applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Very good English, both spoken and written.
  • In-depth knowledge of database and GIS software, and computer networks, Good knowledge of related hardware and peripheral equipment.
  • Very good ability in topographical map reading.
  • Understanding of data QA/QC processes for information management are essential.
  • Possess advanced skills in MS-Access, MS SQL Server, Web design.
  • Advanced knowledge of software engineering theory and applications would be an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming theory and relational database principles.
  • Soft skills
  • Ability to coordinate with local administrators, government, NGOs working with community projects and agencies involved in mine-action.
  • Ability to work under pressure and long hours at different locations.
  • Flexible and adaptable to any situation.
