Our Team

The Advanced Digital Engineering (ADE) team in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is seeking to recruit a Geospatial Analyst. ADE is a global group of geospatial professionals, software developers, product managers, user experience designers and digital consultants within Arup. We use our collective talents to incubate and deliver technology-led solutions to clients. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the challenges of GIS and data delivery, remote sensing, field data collection and reporting/analytics on projects of all scales, with particular importance on long-term sustainable transportation (i.e.: rail and public transit) projects.

The Toronto ADE team is a member of the Americas ADE network, and as such, regular collaboration with the greater regional team is part of this role. This will provide additional opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to work on exciting projects across the Americas region.

The Role

Working as part of a rapidly growing team in Toronto with a vision to become a Geospatial Centre of Excellence, you will be leading and/or delivering technical GIS work related to environmental, planning and infrastructure aspects of local, national and international projects. You will work as part of a diverse, digitally minded team on projects of various types and scales, regularly cross-collaborating with other multi-disciplinary Arup teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting data management, data visualizations, cartography, spatial analysis, automation/scripting of spatial tasks, web development, and many other GIS- linked technical tasks
  • Technical memo / report writing, presentations and client engagement, with appropriate support from the team
  • Producing project related correspondence and GIS deliverables
  • Providing supervision / mentorship for junior staff on the team / your projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject such as Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Software Development, Information Technology or similar
  • Specialist GIS skills working with ArcGIS / ArcGIS Pro, Atlas, FME, Fuse, Survey123, Code on Time, Report Builder, PowerBI, SQL
  • Five years of post-graduate GIS work experience
  • Specialist GIS consulting experience in areas of infrastructure, planning and environmental projects
  • Supervisory experience, including training and mentoring entry and/or intern-level staff is an asset
  • Experience gathering user requirements through tools such as workflow mapping
  • Enjoys working as part of and actively contributing to a positive, friendly, and supportive team culture
