About This Position

The Europe Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the senior innovation leader on the GM Europe (GME) executive leadership team. This position is responsible for leveraging and working closely with GM innovation delivery organizations (Information Technology (IT) and the Digital Business Technology Team (DBTT)) to achieve GM Europe’s vision and strategy. This is a first for GM and centers around a direct-to-consumer model, providing end-to-end mobility products and services to European customers. The Europe CIO is responsible for the technical implementation and support of Experience Centers, mobile showrooms, and offices in all applicable European markets.

The CIO will ensure compliance with European data privacy laws and digital compliance with evolving emissions regulations. In addition, this role is responsible for ensuring all GME employees have the necessary technology tools, and that applications and infrastructure operate flawlessly.

The CIO is the technology partner for the GME leadership team and is a strategic integrator of global innovation teams and activities. They must be an innovative out-of-the-box thinker and excel at collaboration and teamwork.

The CIO must be prepared to attract, develop and retain top IT talent to support and enable European business growth, and they must have strong executive presence and impeccable leadership behaviors.

Role Description
Building and executing a multi-year technology roadmap that aligns to and enables the Europe strategic business plan.
Collaborating with the DBT and IT organizations.
Establishing strong partnerships with all members of the leadership and contributing critical and strategic thinking to ensure this once in a lifetime startup business opportunity is successful.
Proactively assessing technology trends and opportunities to ensure the start-up business provides best-in-class tools, technologies and experiences to our customers; differentiating us from the competition.
Ensuring applicable laws and regulations are understood and proactively adhered to within applicable IT applications and infrastructure.
Deploying and supporting IT infrastructure and systems.
Ensuring a flawless onboarding process for all new employees, including ensuring they have the tools they need to be productive on the first day.
Scaling IT talent in the region aligned to the business growth plan.
Collaborating with fellow international CIOs across the globe sharing best practices and knowledge.
Providing regular communication to IT and business leadership regarding status of strategic innovation programs.
